Emergency

Evacuation Drill We will be conducting our

Evacuation Drill for the school

tomorrow Thursday February

16. All students will be readied

for the event prior to it taking

place and have the proper

support to make sure they

understand the drill for the

important learning experience

that it is.

Sporting Schools We are excited that we have

been able to secure Sporting

Schools funding again for this

term. Murwillumbah Basketball

Association is conducting half

hour weekly basketball

coaching sessions for every

student in our school. K-2

students will have their sessions

on Thursdays and 3-6 students

will have them on Fridays.

See you tonight… hopefully! We are all set to showcase our school plans for 2017, let you

meet your child’s teacher and better understand how they plan

on doing things this year and then sharing a snag for dinner.

Festivities start in the hall at 5.00pm and it all should be over by

6.00 - 6:30pm.

School Hats Bilambil PS has a ‘No Hat, No Play” strategy in place to support

our Sun Safe Policy. Hats regularly are misplaced in our school

and the best way to ensure your chid has their hat for all play

opportunities is to check that their name is clearly and darkly

written on their hat (the names fade quickly) and that your child

has a regular spot where they store their hat (in their bag, tote

tray, etc…)

School Swimming Carnival What an action packed day we had yesterday at

Banora Point Pools for our annual swimming

carnival. Congratulations to all students who

challenged themselves to achieve something that

they didn’t think they would be able to do at the

start of the day.

Congratulations and well done to all students who

qualified for and competed at today’s Tweed

Zone Swimming Carnival. It’s been a busy couple

of days for all of you!

Canteen The school canteen has begun trading again for 2017 and we

are currently looking for volunteers to assist. Come in and meet

Danelle our friendly canteen manager and see what you can

do to help out! Don’t forget you will earn P&C dollars for each

hour you assist and get to sample the yummy food with lunch

provided. The canteen operates MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS

and FRIDAYS.

Due to popular demand sushi will now be offered every

Monday! Please remember: It is P&C policy that no credit be given, to

save embarrassment please do not ask. Prepaid accounts can

be arranged after consulting with Danelle (Canteen Manager)

Canteen menu can be located on the P&C uniform shop

website - www.bilambilpc.org, SchoolStream App (under P&C

information), Bilambil PS website or alternatively you can

contact the office for a hard copy! New menu will be

distributed shortly until then we will continue to use last year’s

menu and prices.

P&C Volunteer Incentive Scheme The P&C Volunteer scheme launched in 2016 will continue for

2017. Canteen, uniform shop, banking and book club volunteers

will earn one P&C dollar for each volunteer hour, P&C dollars are

accumulative and redeemable in the canteen or uniform shop.

Please ensure you sign in and out at the canteen.

Uniform Shop The uniform shop has now reverted back to normal hours.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8.30 - 9.00am.

Online orders can be made at http://www.bilambilpc.org/ and

will be delivered to your child’s class on the next uniform shop

day.

P&C Meetings We held the first P&C meeting for 2017 last Wednesday. A huge

thank you to all the parents who came, it was great to have

such a fantastic turn out, especially for the first meeting of the

year!

For 2017 we are aiming to hold 2 meetings per term (Wednesday

of Week 3 and Week 8) commencing at 3.15pm. Exact dates

will be published in the school newsletter and via our FB page.

AGM Please note change of time:

2017 AGM is now scheduled to

start at 3.15pm on Wednesday,

8 March 2017 and will be

followed by the last P&C

meeting for this term.

P&C positions include: President,

Vice President (2), Treasurer,

Secretary, Uniform Shop

Coordinator, Canteen

Committee (2), and Fundraising

Committee (2-3). If you would

like further information about

what these positions involve

please contact any of the

current P&C executives or send

us an email

No previous experience is

necessary to hold a position,

and previous executive

members are always on hand to

guide you as you settle in. Being

a part of the P&C can be a very

rewarding and valuable

experience. The P&C’s

fundraising efforts able us to

support the school by

purchasing those “extra” items

that the school does not always

receive funding for. It is a great

way to show your children that

you value and support their

education whilst providing an

opportunity to keep informed

about what’s happening

around the school.

The P&C is a great way to meet

other parents in our community

and develop a strong social

network for your children. You

do not have to be a part of the

executive or on a sub

committee to be a part of the

P&C. We welcome all parents

and carers to join the general

body of the committee for a

cuppa to just listen in and have

your say. Come along on the 8

March and see what the P&C is

all about.
