Mrs. Moore’s Kindergarten Newsletter March 31 st , 2016 Wow, this week flew by with lots of fun activities and excitement for spring break! We are starting unit 8 in Reach, where we will be learning more about the sky and space! We made a brace map and Venn diagram to see what's in the sky during the day versus the night, and watched a time sped video of the sun rising and setting. We read a nonfiction book about stars and discussed why nonfiction books are important. The students wrote facts they learned and shared them in small groups. We learned about onomatopoeia and stamped spring words. The students have been working hard on reading poetry to listen for long and short vowel sounds. We read It Looked Like Spilled Milk and created our own pictures out of clouds! The students created beautiful name rainbows, where they had to think of adjectives to describe themselves. We read Splat, Goodnight Sleep Tight. We used flashlights to find things that Splat saw in the night sky. Our vocab words this week included: time, early, late, and sky. The students listened to a lullaby and used their reading comprehension skills of asking questions and retelling what happened. One of the best ways we engaged in learning about the sky is going on our field trip to the Planetarium at Carmel High School. They loved it! I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing spring break, with safe travels and SPF if needed! This Week’s Focus Reminders Please check your child’s rocket folder daily for papers and info! Mrs. Moore’s Kindergarten Newsletter

March 31st, 2016

Wow, this week flew by with lots of fun activities and excitement for spring break!
