High School Visit Staff from Woolgoolga High School will be visiting Year 6 this Thursday morning to discuss high school for 2018. Captains’ Speeches School captain speeches for 2018 will be held at morning assembly on November 22. I am more than happy to assist anyone to develop their speech and to practise before the day. Parents are welcome to attend as well. We will announce the successful leaders for 2018 at our Presentation Night. Newsletter Our newsletter is available in paper copy as well as on our website and Facebook pages. Next year we would like to transition to electronic copies and only provide paper copies for those who request them. Please let us know your thoughts by completing the survey and returning it to school by Friday November 10.

Congratulations to Bonnie Robertson from 3/4T on her wonderful gesture to the Variety Club. Bonnie had her long hair cut yesterday and this will be donated to be made into a wig for a child having chemotherapy. If you would like to support Bonnie’s efforts please see next week’s newsletter for more information. Kindergarten Orientation Our third Kindergarten orientation will be held tomorrow commencing at 9am and finishing at 11.45am. All children who are eligible to enrol in Kindergarten in 2018 are welcome to attend. Jump Rope for Heart Many thanks to Kane from Jump Rope for Heart who came to school today. Everyone looked amazing in red and had a wonderful time participating in activities. Our school raised $135 for the heart Foundation. Thanks to Miss Simcoe for organising this event.

Year 5/6T News…

Spelling sheets were given out yesterday. Our unit continues with the children looking at early Federation and Politicians. In maths groups we look at improper fractions.

Year 5 Camp

(Great Aussie Bush Camp)

A great camp with the children enjoying many of the camps activities. Team work and supporting others was the main aim of the camp. Photos have been placed on the schools Facebook page as well as being shown on the foyer television. Here are some student comments: JETT On the giant swing you went flying over the river

and it was the best activity because of the view!

DESTANEE I went to the Great Aussie Bush Camp. My

fav is the Giant Swing. It was really scary for me but I

still enjoyed it. My second favourite was the Flying Fox!

SERGE & JETT We grabbed our boat and pushed it in

the water and it floated so Brent and Jett jumped on. We

were flying! Mr Taylor

Year 6 Camp

Year 6 had a fantastic time at camp. We were very busy from the time we arrived at the Gold Coast. We did not stop! Day 1: We visited Currumbin Wildlife Park, Superbee Honeyworld, Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Day 2: We visited Queensland Parliament where we were personally welcomed into the Legislative Assembly, the Queensland Science Museum and Maritime Museum and then off to a Chinese dinner at King of Kings in Brisbane. Day 3: saw us travel to Australia Zoo, back to Zingara’s for a pizza/pasta dinner then onto Putt Putt Golf. Day 4: saw us spend the day at Seaworld before heading home. Thankyou Year 6 for your good behaviour and a very special thank you to Mrs Bartley, Mr Wiggins, Mr Skinner and Mr Merriman who accompanied us.

Clean Up Crew News Last Tuesday, 24th Oct, we had our first “Nude Food Tuesday”. Stage 3 were away on their excursions so they were not included in the results for Week 3. To make the class tally fair we calculate the number of students bringing nude food lunchboxes as a percentage of the total class numbers. Our results for Week 3 were:

The winning class for this week was therefore Kindergarten. Well done Kindy, keep up the great effort! Congratulations to our Week 3 prize winners: Stage 1- Maisie McMahon (Kinder) Stage 2- Smarlee McPhillips (3/4B) We also congratulate Jude Cronin and Lucas Ehsman from K/1 for becoming the newest members of our Clean Up Crew. These boys have taken on the responsibility of emptying their class scrap bins and are extremely dedicated to reducing our waste. Both boys were presented with a Clean Up Crew badge. Well done boys, keep up the great work!
