NoviWare

NoviWare is at theheartofwhatmakesNoviFlow’sNoviSwitches unique inthe SDN/OpenFlow world: combining a fully programmable forwardingpipeline AND wire-speed OpenFlow performance. What do we mean inpracticaltermsbya“fullyprogrammableforwardingpipeline”?A fullyprogrammable pipeline allows any combination of match fields,instructionsandactions inanycombinationofoneormultipletables.ASICstypically have very limited and inflexible pipelines, and even the mostconfigurable ASIC pipelines can beoptimized for only one specific pipelinearchitectureatatime.

The L2-L7 matching and packet payload processing feature enables SDNapplicationstosetflowrulesbasedonUDPandIPpacketpayloads,andthentoalterthecontentofthosepacketsaccordingly.OneofNoviFlow’spartnershasused this feature to build a truly innovative GTP load balancing solutions formobileoperators.

Similarly, the VxLAN Encapsulation/decapsulation feature provides means toassociate actions to flow entries that can push and pop VxLAN headers. For

example,ourVxLAN-basedmultitenancy/disasterrecoverydemowhenweusethiscapabilitytotransparentlyswaponeWebserverforanotheronabackupnetworksuingthesameaddressspaceonboththemainandbackupnetworks.Howdoesthiswork?
