Rutherford County fce NEWSLETTER

Fall 2015

Fall...A time to Harvest Gloria Shacklett Christy will be our feature

presenter at this year’s Season of Wonders.

Make a photograph become a priceless gift. Restoring treasured photos will turn them into timeless works of art that will be enjoyed by generations. Gloria Shacklett Christy from Shacklett’s Photography in Murfreesboro will be speaking about how these photos should be handled with care, as they are restored. Some photos require little to no correction while others may need extensive restoration. Use this opportunity to bring your personal pictures for her to examine, she will be offering free consultations.

Before

AFTER!

At our last county council meeting we discussed

how the clubs will work together to provide the

lunch for the Season of Wonders event. The

menu is planned to be salad, casserole, dessert,

and drink for a suggested $5 donation. The

items are to be delivered that morning anytime

after 8:30 a.m. Recipes or a list of ingredients

will be necessary for individuals to consider

when they’re choosing their meal. The County

Council officers will serve the meal and will

provide the plates, napkins, and service ware.

Desserts need to be edible with fingers like

cookies, bars or brownies. Beverages will be

donated or purchased. Diane Bennett, as county

council president, will keep track of what each

club brings.

Yearbooks Under Construction

A post was made on Facebook to ask which of

the FCE Yearbook Cover Rutherford County

members preferred and 8 1/2”x11” was by far

the favorite.

Enrollment forms will be used by club members

this year to gather the most up-to-date and

accurate contact information for each

individual member, as well as their years as an

FCE Club member.

National NAFCE Conference

Next year, July 14-17, Tennessee will host the

NAFCE Conference in Memphis. There are

already members from our county planning on

attending this event due to it proximity. I

reserved the Central Region van for us.

Fce clubs will bring:

Almaville—5 casseroles, 2 desserts

Better Living—salads

Blackman—5 casseroles, 2 desserts

Eagleville—2 casseroles, 2 desserts

Recipes!!! I am a believer in recipe sharing. If you cook, you are always looking for recipes. These are from FCE Club members in the county.

Spiced Cider 2 quarts apple cider 2 cinnamon sticks 2 whole allspice berries 2 whole cloves 1 orange, sliced thin Put the spices and the orange on a square of cheesecloth. Secure the ends and put in a large party perk coffee pot. Add cider. Let simmer for 20 minutes or so until hot. Serve with whipped cream and grated nutmeg—so good!

This cider was served at FCE Week Event on Friday, October 9 by Ginny Noel, Northridge FCE

Chocolate Pie 1 cup sugar 3 Tablespoons plain flour 2 Tablespoons cocoa Dash of salt 3 egg yolks 1 1/2 cups milk Cook till thick. Add 2 Tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla

Bake one empty pie shell, let cool slightly Add filling Top with merinque To make the meringue beat three egg whites and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar until foamy and gradually add 1/3 cup sugar . Beat until peaks form. Put on pie and bake 15 minutes in 350 oven . Glad that the pie was enjoyed. Served at joint Rockvale/Eagleville FCE Club meeting in September by Debbie Williams

The theme of cooking was chosen by for the 2016 County Council Officer installation ceremony.

As each officer provides different tools to our organization in order to make our best dishes, we presented each one with a kitchen tool to reflect their contributions.

Eunice Sorrell and Miki Smith as education chairpersons they carry out the leader trainings to provide the educational component to each of our local club meetings. They were presented with measuring spoons which represent gauging contributions and supporting appropriate mix.

Evelyn Richardson, as treasurer, was presented with a spatula which represents flipping pages of checkbook and scraping when necessary.

Mary Sue Young, as our Secretary, was given a slotted spoon which drains out the unimportant and puts in what’s needed

Sarah Zapotocky, as Vice President for Public Policy was given a ladle which fills in when needed.

Judy Eaton, Vice President for Programs, was absent but we have measuring cups for her as she gauges contributions and supports appropriate mix.

Diane Bennett. As the Rutherford County FCE President was presented with a serving spoon to dish up order and blend members together.

Other members in attendance that day were presented with food thermometers in hopes they will encourage maintaining the correct temperature as they support and offer assistance to our officers.
