Dances
We danced a mix of dances suitable for all levels so everyone had the chance to get up and
dance! We had a few floor splits too – a beginner dance at the front of the hall and an
intermediate dance at the back, being danced at the same time – which was brilliant. We also
had a fun barn dance and circle dance which caused a lot of laughter.

NEW BEGINNERS
We opened a new daytime class on Tuesday mornings at 9.45am in Warlingham Church Hall
and were delighted to welcome new members to our dance family. We have space for more
dancers, so please tell your friends about this new class
Each week I will send an email with a link to a post on our website detailing the dances that
have been taught. If you haven’t received emails from us, please check your spam folder or let
me know.
Our beginner classes will help you to understand the difference between weight bearing and
non-weight bearing steps and will introduce steps and terminology commonly used in line
dancing.

DANCES
We have kicked off the New Year with some great new dances already. Click on the dance
title to view a video of the dance:
Crystal Touch – a new improver level dance to a familiar old track, choreographed by Claire
Bell and Maddison Glover for this year’s Crystal Boot Awards.
Dance Monkey – choreographed by Alison Johnstone, this dance won a Crystal Boot Award
Faithful Soul – choreographed by Gary O’Reilly & Maggie Gallagher this dance won a
Crystal Boot not only for intermediate dance of the year, but overall dance of the year 2019
and we can see why. This beautiful waltz is an absolute joy to dance, does not feel like 90
counts at all and has become an instant favourite!
Get Wild – this phrased, intermediate level dance choreographed by Maddison Glover and
Jo Thompson Szymanski has been popular worldwide and we are enjoying dancing it in our
Friday class
Half Past Tipsy – choreographed by Maddison Glover and Rachael McEnaney-White, this
improver level dance has proved very popular in our classes. It is fun to dance and extra fun
to watch Mark putting in his own moves during wall 7 (an added bonus!)
Keep Young – choreographed by Maggie Gallagher as the LDF dance of 2020. (The Line
Dance Foundation was founded in 2007 by Betty Drummond of Linedancer Magazine to
support people involved with line dance who face difficult times through illness, accident or
other distressing circumstances affecting their ability to earn their living). It’s a lovely little
improver level dance to a great track by Jonas Blue & HRVY
Shot of Tequila – a great way to enjoy a shot of tequila without getting a hangover. Super
little dance choreographed by Fred Whitehouse, being enjoyed by our Friday night dancers.
What A Man Gotta Do – choreographed by Julia Wetzel to the track by the Jonas Brothers
which is currently very popular. This dance has been given the ‘thumbs up’ in a couple of our
classes already and I will be rolling it out to other classes over the coming weeks.

We were extremely sad to hear that our dear dancer Susan has passed away after suffering
from a brain aneurysm. She was a lovely lady, thoroughly enjoyed her line dancing and was
very good at it and was a fantastic character in our Warlingham class. We are really going to
miss her very much.
The funeral is arranged for Friday March 20th at 11.15am at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium.
Donations are being made to the charity ‘Headway’ – the brain injury association. Our thoughts
are with her loved ones.
