PRINCIPAL’S NEWS A DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES! On Thursday, 21st June, we will be holding a family session about technology use in the school. Come along with your children and have them show you some of the things they are learning about. We will commence at 4:00pm and go until 5:30pm. Come for all (or some) of the time. Afternoon tea will be provided. COMPUTERS FOR SALE The school still has a number of computers available. They are running Windows 7 and are internet ready. They include screens, keyboards and all cables. Some have a mouse. If you would like one, please see me. They are going really cheap! (Make an offer!) We also have some school desks and chairs that we are practically giving away! Come and get a bargain!

REMINDER Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, due to Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday.

HIGH SCHOOL VISIT On the 20th June, we have been invited to Coomealla High School, for Dami Im’s performance. All students will be attending and at no cost. Permission notes will be sent home next week. Cath Eddie Principal

K/1 Hello Everyone, A big High 5 to all K/1 students who, in my absence last week, continued working hard and following the school values of Respect, Safety and Persistence. The training I attended was on Project Based Learning, which is an approach to teaching and learning that engages students in rich and authentic learning experiences. As a class we have reached our target number of acknowledgement tickets. As a celebratory reward we spent a fun afternoon enjoying the parachute and activities. Save the date: Monday, June 8th, K/1 will be running the assembly. Hope to see you there. Have a great week! Leanne Byrnes 1/2 Over the next few weeks we will continue to learn about the workers in the community who help us to stay healthy and provide us with needs and services. Our Careers Day and speaking and listening task about a chosen "Worker in the Community" will be taking place on Tuesday 19th June. This is a great opportunity for students to research a job of their choice. If you have any questions about this, please come and see me. We will be going on an infants excursion to explore local worksites on Friday 22nd June. A note will be going home shortly. Just a reminder to parents and carers, that we are using the Seesaw app to upload photos of our school work and photos of when we participate in school activities. If you would like more information about Seesaw please come and see me. Yvette Pomroy 3/4 Last Friday an information sheet was sent home. It is about our Australian native animal research project that we are doing in class. Students have been given the option to complete some or all of the poster at home. We will be doing research about their animals in class time. The posters will be due on the 18th of June. Brian Gray 4/5 What wonderful dishes the students are preparing in the kitchen. Thank you to those adults who are able to assist in the kitchen. It’s greatly appreciated. Our next session will be held next Thursday 14th June. On Tuesday a new lot of homework was sent home. This is due back on or before Thursday 14th June. It’s important that the students read regularly and log their data into their diary. We already have a number of students who have read more than 100 nights for the year. Please read the information pertaining to this year’s Year 4/5 Swan Hill Camp which can be found in this newsletter. I will be away tomorrow and next Thursday and Friday. In my absence, Miss Shields will be teaching the class over those three days. Hope you enjoy your long weekend, Sandra Marziano

YEAR 5/6 I just have a couple of quick messages. I have been speaking with the organising school about our Canberra excursion and now that numbers are confirmed the final price for the trip will be given to us very shortly. It is very important that families begin the process of making payments towards their trip. Below I have included the details on how this can be done online. Log onto Wentworth –p.schools.nsw.edu.au and click ‘make a payment’ then follow the prompts to make a payment via Visa or Mastercard. I have also had a very generous parent approach me about providing a load of wood for the Year 6 students to raffle towards their camp. I have taken up the offer and will be organising raffle tickets and an information note this week. My second message is, that as a class we are working hard on developing our leadership skills. It is important that Year 6 students are in full school uniform, particularly those who hold a badge. We are encouraging students to be active participants in their school community and to run small activities once a week to engage younger students. It is important that Year 6 students are seen to be doing the right thing, at the right time and are in the right place. Have a great week everyone, Jenny Halls YEAR 4/5 SWAN HILL EXCURSION Thank you to those who have already returned their Year 4/5 excursion to Swan Hill forms and deposit. The set price for the excursion is $300 per student. Please note that whether they are or are not attending this excursion it is important that the permission slip is returned by Friday 29th June. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to come in or phone me. Sandra Marziano SPORT NEWS Starting this Friday, we will be doing athletics carnival training for all students who are 8 this year, or older. All students will be participating in training and will need to be wearing shoes and sports uniforms. LOST PROPERTY We have a lot of jumpers and hats in the lost property with no names (or names that are unreadable). It is much easier for us to return them to their rightful owner if they are marked.

DENTAL VAN The Dental Van has now been moved to the Buronga School. Child Dental Staff also work at the Dareton Clinic every second Thursday and appointments are available there for any families who did not access the service while the dental van was at the school. If your child still requires follow up treatment please contact the Dental Staff on 0419 990 264 for all appointments. Thank you Lisa Testa
