National News

National Clergy Consultant, Father Edward Lamp, reports that the National Boardreceived a request to look into an accusation lodged against CRS (Catholic ReliefServices) by another Catholic agency. All allegations against CRS have been investigatedthoroughly and have been found inaccurate, misleading and/or exaggerated. The accusingagency has made several accusations, some conserning the work of CRS being in fullcompliance with Church teaching. "The U.S. Catholic Bishops stand firmly behind CRSin its commitment to promote and defend human dignity and the sacredness of everyhuman life from the moment of conception until natural death, and at every moment inbetween." On behalf of our National Regent, Olga Samaniego, Father Lamp says "I hopeyou will accept the guidance from our bishops I provided as they have consistently stoodbehind CRS."

Our Next Meetings Are

CIRCLE OF LOVE Membership

Membership is a vital part of the Circle of Love it is always ongoing and soimportant if our court and our organization is to continue into the future. It does no goodto receive new members if we aren't cultivating our current membership. We are onlylimited by our imagination to accomplish our membership goals!

Is there someone you would like to bring in as a guest speaker that would interestour members? I am always striving to make our meetings fun and interesting whiletrying to keep the length of the meeting to under 2 hours.

I am requesting our long time members to mingle at our meetings and events andmaybe sit with a new member that you don't know well yet. I will also assign a "veteran"member to "shadow" all new members so they feel welcomed and we can get theminvolved with our court right away. Everyone who is a Catholic Daughter at Court HolyFamily is a member of our Membership Team, not just a select few. We must letprospective members know that they are wanted and needed in any capacity, especially topray for our court and its mission to serve in unity and charity. Everyone has somethingto contribute and we must continue to communicate that message.

As your Regent, I am asking the members of Court Holy Family to embrace theseprinciples and continue to strive to keep our current membership as well as invite newladies to join us.

IN MEMORIUM

HILDEGARD "HILDA" LORSUNGJanuary 16, 1937 June 15, 2019

Hilda became a member of Court Holy Family on October 6, 1981 a member forover 38 years! She was born in Stefansfeld, Germany in 1937. She later met andmarried Leander Lorsung. She came to the Statesbringing her strong will and German accent with her. Shewas a devout Catholic who lived her faith. She enjoyedgardening, making crafts, reading and cooking. Hergreatest source of happiness and pride came from her faithand family. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missedby everyone who knew her. She worked at ColoradoCollege for over 32 years. She was a member of theCatholic Daughters and St. Dominic Catholic Church. Sheleaves behind two children, two granddaughters and fivegreatgrandchildren.

On a personal note, I enjoyed Hilda's company somuch! When Sandy Cozad and I would go to visit her during the holidays, shewas so much fun to talk to always had a lot of good stories to share and herwonderful smile never left her face the whole time! I will miss her greatly.Evelyn Irving

CIRCLE OF LOVE Leadership

Our leaders will give our court the opportunity to grow and become the bestcourt it can be in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Each member of thiscourt has the ability to be a leader in her own way, using all the skills and strengthsshe possesses. She might excel at tasks that most of us cannot accomplish. Aleader needs to recognize those strengths and let the member become the leadershe is capable of becoming.

As you know, this is my last year as your Regent as I cannot run again since Ihave been in office for four years (again). I have loved being your Regent but nowI am looking for a member to step forward and become our new leader, our newRegent. I am asking this far in advance of our elections because I want to be ableto train her and guide her so she can make the decision that "yes, being Regent iswhat I am being called to do".

Please let me know if you are thinking about running for office and maybe Ican help you dismiss any misgivings you might have about being a court officer.

Evelyn Irving, Regent
