Introduction
allmineral world leader in jigging technology has sig-
ned a Cooperation Agreement with Gaustec Magne-
tismo Ltda. | Brazil in 2006, to market the gaustec®
Magnetic Separator WHIMS type (Wet High Intensity
Magnetic Separator) on a worldwide basis.
This equipment has been designed and improved by
skilled engineers based on their practical experien-
ce of more than 20 years. Several features introduced
to the standard equipment led to the best possible
operational flexibility and easy maintenance.
Leading Technology in Magnetic Separation
A wide range of sizes starting from the smallest unitfor research and process design applications (G340 –
Minimag), with a rated feed capacity of 0.3 t/h, to the
biggest equipment of its kind ever constructed, the
G3600 with a rated feed capacity of 200 t/h is offered.

ticle size up to 3 mm.
Matrix is made of grooved plates.

Innovations | The key factor to keep the pace with the growing mining industries demands

1. Magnetic Induction of each Rotor Independently
adjustable.
The high gradient magnetic field is independent-
ly adjustable for each rotor through AC/DC con-
verters, in the operational ranges. This allows for
rougher and cleaner |scavenger process steps in
one single machine.
2. The standard equipment is supplied with
two AC/DC power supplies, one for each rotor.
The coils that generate the magnetic field on the
top and bottom rotor are fed electrically indepen-
dent, making it possible to have the necessary
magnetic induction on each rotor adjusted accor-
ding to the operational needs.
This feature is also of advantage from the main-
tenance point of view, since if one of the AC/DC
power supplies fails the second power supply can
supply energy to all coils of the machine maintai-
ning the production in emergency status, until
the necessary repair can be made.

3. Larger distance between magnetic poles
One of the main restriction to make the mainte-
nance in traditional WHIMS is the small distance
between the rotors. This makes the maintenance
of the bottom rotor like matrix inspection, clea-
ning, and retightening of the bolts, a tiresome
and difficult task to perform.
The gaustec® Whims presents as one of its main
features a comfortable room between rotors,
making operation and maintenance of this equip-
ment easy.

4. Adjustment of the effective magnetic area of the
magnetic poles
Electrical energy saving is a must in the gaustec®
WHIMS design. The increasing demand to reach
higher magnetic induction is an important factor
as well.
Looking for the wide application range the gau-
stec® WHIMS is developed for, a new design of the
magnetic poles has been introduced to achieve
both: energy savings and higher magnetic induc-
tions.
This possibility is offered to our customers by
making the magnetic pole area adjustable.

The pole size can be adjusted by simply adding
respectiveley removing the yellow marked pole wed-
ges. With a smaller pole one saves energy or can
increase the magnetic field strength. With a wider
pole the residence time can be increased leading to a
higher separation efficiency.

5. Two process steps in one single machine
Due to the independently adjustable magnetic
fields for the two rotors a cleaner-scavenger pro-
cess can be realised in a single machine. This
offers unsurpassed flexibilty with regard to pro-
duct quality and recovery.

stec 3200 in operation in a Brazilian
mine (03| 2006 - 07|2007) shownot
only a significant increase in pro-
duct quality. The variations in the
feed grade are eliminated and a
very constant product quality is
produced.

6. Lab Scale Process Design with »MINIMAG«
For the process development for new ore types,
allmineral offers the laboratory WHIMS G340
»MINIMAG«. With a wide range of magnetic
induction reaching fields of up to 17.000 Gauss
(1.7 Tesla) , this equipment works with the real
dynamic conditions of an industrial unit enabling
the process engineer to safely develop his pro-
ject.
Four types of magnetic matrix, with its scale fac-
tor to larger equipments, are offered as standard
design. Other type of matrix can be offered upon
request.
