Dear Tallong families and friends,
This is the final newsletter for Term 2 and the final
time it will be officially called Newsletter. We have had
lots of entries to rename our newsletter and I will be
announcing the winning entry on Friday at our formal
assembly. I would like to take this opportunity to invite
all members of our community to our end of term as-
sembly on Friday 5 July at 2pm under the cola.
During the July school holidays Tallong Public School
will be apart of the ‘Share Our Space’ program to ena-
ble greater community use of schools. For further in-
formation, please see the flyer attached to the news-
letter.
During the school holidays, a company will be coming
in and removing any unsafe branches in designated
spots. This will not have an impact on our ‘Share our
Space’ program.
PERMISSION NOTES
We have a busy start to Term 3, can you please return
your child’s signed permission notes to their class
teacher asap.
DEBATING REPORT
Tallong’s debating team are on a roll and gaining
some momentum moving forward for our last debate
of the round robin today. We have won all 4 debates
and our team have improved each time, listening to
the adjudicators feedback. I am looking forward to
hearing about their result today and see if we are suc-
cessful in moving through to the next round.
Term 2 Week 10 Thursday 4 July, 2019
UNIFORM
The P&C and school are going to collect some data
from a survey they will produce and send out to the
community about our school uniform. From that we
hope to ascertain an understanding if modifications are
wanted. The uniform shop is still operational and a
reminder if you are after winter uniforms please contact
the school so we can organise a time for you to meet
with the uniform coordinator. As it is getting colder, if
your child is going to wear an alternative jacket can
you please align with our blue uniform.
MULTICULTURAL PUBLIC SPEAKING
Last Wednesday Josh D, Harland R, Hayden D and
Brody M participated in the regional public speaking
final at Bowral Public School. The boys delivered a
prepared and an impromptu speech. It was a new ex-
perience for the boys having students from Bowral,
parents and teachers making up the audience. Well
done boys!
KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS 2020
We are now taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020.
Please come into the office and speak with a member
of staff or give us a call for further information.
DIGITAL LITERACY
Because innovation occurs so fast in the electronic
world, many parents may feel as though they cannot
help their children navigate the endless expanse of the
Internet. But, even if they do not know everything
about every technological advance, parents are a cru-
cial stakeholder in teaching children the safe and
healthy use of the Internet. As schools work to discuss
principles of online safety in the classroom, parents
can reinforce the media literacy educational messages
at home and form a powerful partnership for helping
children become effective cybercitizens. This week we
have shared some fact sheets about apps that your
children might be engaging with - please note the rec-
ommended age rating for each application.
Tallong P.S.

caring and committed staff.

AWARDS SYSTEM Last Tuesday night at the P&C meeting Mrs Mat-
thews and I introduced and gained feedback on Tal-
long Public Schools new reward and behaviour sys-
tem. The staff and P&C are very excited about the
new wellbeing system which will bring more con-
sistency and highlight positive behaviour. The stu-
dents have been introduced to the new systems and
have had their chance to voice their opinion and are
very enthusiastic for this to start in Term 3.
Our awards mascot will be named on Friday at our
formal assembly and I will also announce the student
who was the winner of the competition and will go
down in Tallong history.
You will also notice a few changes and surprises to
our formal assembly tomorrow…….

PRINCIPAL’S MORNING TEA
This semester the teachers and I have been looking
for students who value and show our school expecta-
tions all the time. They are great role models for their
peers, don’t get involved with silliness in the classroom
or playground and are happy and motivated learners in
all areas of Tallong Public School. At the end of each
semester we choose 1 student from each grade to join
the teachers and I for a morning tea to be recognised
and celebrated for being a great citizen of our Tallong
school community. We also invite the parents of each
child to the morning tea as well as it is a great honour
to be selected! Semester 1 Students are:
