G’day Hurricaners,

Well here we are at the half way year of the 2017 season, in the last 5 weeks I have been fortunate enough to visit several tracks stewarding, one of which was round 3 of the national series at the fabulous facility in Monarto SA. It was great to see some WA faces amongst the 230 odd nominations doing really well in super competitive fields, it was also a great learning experience for myself and Troy Worboys with stewards kept busy all day. Next I would like to thank all those who supported the Brian Smith Memorial from the generosity of the members who sponsored the day to the committee who worked really hard on promoting the event and most of all to the competitors who competed, I’m sure Brian would of been proud to see the unity and fun amongst everyone who attended. It was warming to see the majority of people hang back for the spit roast and some good old fashion post-race chatting, good on you guys and thanks for supporting your club.

Hurricane continues to pride itself on the number of members willing to commit to helping out. We constantly have new people stepping up to the plate to contribute helping to make race days possible. Cassie Worboys was unable to make the last meeting but still we had our canteen function for the day with new volunteers and we also have Gabbi Black learning the timing system under the guidance of Gus. Keep up the great work guys and our club will remain strong through the ongoing commitment from us all..

See ya at the track!

Robbie

A HUGE Thank you to Kim, Cassie and Veronica for running a smooth Canteen in May whilst I was working flowers for Mother's Day Weekend, I really appreciate the effort your guys put in covering for us. MORE VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED The canteen welcomes anyone who would like to join our awesome team.... come be part of the fun and laughter..... .......always cooler in summer and warmer in winter..... pop in and see Cassie. The times that require most help are 10.30am to 12.30pm (1 persons) and at the end of the day when closing (2 persons) . During the day (2 - 3 person) this enables parents to get and watch their family members race. The more help at the end of the day also helps those that have fed and fuel you guys all day get out and enjoy presentations and chin wag with the rest of the club members. KING OF THE HILL For the canteen to run efficiently for this event we will need more volunteers. So please pop this date on the calendar Saturday 9th September. On Friday 8th September, I will require help from 3pm to help prep the canteen to be open for dinner service on Friday evening. Saturday morning will also need some early birds from 6am to get breakfast service ready for 6.30am. Then throughout the day 4 - 5 people. Clean up and close down 3 - 4 people. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far this year..... bring on the June club run. Cheers

Cassie Worboys Canteen Manager :)
