After a few short weeks of exhausting, independent, hard work we have completed a week of staging of the Exhibition. Looking back at all we’ve accomplished, we finally realize the worth of all of our efforts. We understand it is not the product and the staging, but the journey that is really important. This journey has changed our lives going forward, as we looked at our pasts and inside ourselves to discover what really matters to us. With focuses varying from responsibility to curiosity, fixed and growth mindsets to success, communicating effectively to third culture kids, we all agree that there will never be an Exhibition like this one. #ishcmcpypx “You can’t put a limit on anything, the more you dream the further you get” – Michael Phelps By Ari Rangarajan & Jaime Dimalanta

World Scholar’S cup

On Saturday, April 12th 2014 ISHCMC hosted the first annual Ho Chi Minh City World Scholar’s Cup Round. There were over 50 students from four different schools including Horizon Bilingual School, Australian International School, ISHCMC American Academy and of course our very own ISHCMC.

Teams of three competed in team debates, collaborative writing, the Scholar’s Bowl (a quiz show event) and the Scholar’s Challenge (a multisubject test) all to earn a chance to move onto to the Global Round which will be held in Singapore June 24-27th. The theme of this year’s event was ‘The World Within’ and it examined the history of espionage, the science of the ‘thoughtful brain, the troubled mind’ and decision-making, ‘voices from the inside’ in literature, the ‘echoes of the interior’ in the arts and ‘worlds within walls’ in Social Studies. The coaches, teachers and the administrators would like to acknowledge the outstanding performance by all the ISHCMC students during the event. We hope to see all the participants join us for an important meeting on Monday, April 21st ,in the regular meeting place. This meeting will focus on discussing the logistics of having everyone join the next round of competition in Singapore.

We are very proud of all the participants. Go Rhinos!

Hello everyone! Loreto scholarship drive has finished! Overall, WE HAVE RAISED 118 SCHOLARSHIPS, which means that we can provide a year worth education to 118 students in Sunrise Special school and Nguyen Dinh Chieu School

for the Blind! This is THE BEST ISHCMC RECORD in history, so please be proud of yourselves!

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our record, and especially to those who have donated 2,000,000 VND individually.

Please watch Elijah’s video, A Golden Heart, which shows a story of a blind university student who used to go to the Loreto-supported school for the blind above. Please enjoy and be proud that you have made a big difference to students who are in a similar situation as Trang (and don’t forget to vote for Elijah’s cool video!)

athleticS and activitieS reportCONGRATULATIONS to our U-19 Football teams for their top-3 finishes yesterday in their season-ending SISAC Tournaments! The girls’ team traveled to SSIS and won their first two games and tied their third game, but finished in second place in their pool based on goal difference. This qualified them to play in the 3rd-4th place playoff game, which they dominated, winning 3-0 to clam their highest finish of the season. Well done Senior Girls Football & Coach Kilminster!

The boys were at BIS, where they won their first two games easily, scoring 7 goals and allowing only 1. They then defeated BIS in the semi-finals to advance to the championship game, where they faced their MRISA & SISAC rival - SSIS. At the end of regulation, the game was tied 1-1. After one overtime period, the game was decided by a penalty-kick shootout, and SSIS prevailed, leaving our boys in second place. Overall, the boys scored the most goals in the tournament, and allowed the least. Another superb performance by the team, led by Coach Njoku!

Canteen Update April 18, 2014

Dear all Students, Parents and Staff,

Global Cafe has decided to take this opportunity to improve the drink options available for order/purchase through the canteen.

We have removed all flavored milks and introduced new juice brands to promote healthy choices and natural ingredients to the ISHCMC community.

If you have placed an order for this month we will fill the order with the new replacement products and ensure that your child gets their order. The new products will be published in the new menu for the month of May.

Thanks for your understanding and if you require any further information please feel free to contact us.
