WC21 Updates
On January 28, 2016, WC21 officially launched three work groups, each with a designated focus area: resilience, recovery & rehabilitation, and reintegration. To join or nominate representatives for a work group, please contact Ms. Veronica Scarlett or Ms. Christina Lantuh (contact information listed below).
Work group leads will organize recurring meetings where members will identify workable solutions for warrior care challenges in their respective focus areas, beginning with those identified at the October 2015 Symposium. Quarterly teleconferences will provide all work groups the opportunity to brief the WC21 Coalition members on their progress and to continue identifying challenges, best practices, and innovative solutions surrounding warrior care.
International Warrior Care Portal Updates
As this effort continues, we invite you to visit the International Warrior Care Portal at https://iwcp.usuhs.edu/. The Portal is intended to serve as a resource and repository for publically available news articles, research, policy documents, and operational documents, as well as information specific to the WC21 work groups and associated meetings. Please refer to the Portal’s “2015 Symposium” page for a review of all presentations and discussions that occurred during the 2015 WC21 Symposium.
Warrior Care Around the World
The international warrior care community continues to provide support to wounded, ill, and injured Service members and their families through various initiatives and activities. In Canada, wounded warriors are preparing to begin a 600 kilometer run on Vancouver Island. The run will raise money and awareness for service-related injuries, such as post-traumatic stress.

The United States has launched a pilot program that will freeze Service members’ sperm and eggs prior to being deployed, allowing them to reproduce even if their reproductive organs are injured. The results of this program will determine if this is a successful and efficient tactic to retain troops, making military service more appealing to individuals of family rearing ages.
