The Year AheadA Message from Rob Chaggares – Board Chair

IhavehadtheopportunitytoserveontheBoardofDirectorssince2009-workingwithdedicatedlocalleadersontheboard,enthusiasticcommitteemembersandadevotedChamberstaff.Allofthesepeople,alongwithourmembers,helpmaketheChamberasuccess.

TheNewmarketChamberhasover850membersrepresentingmorethan15,000localemployees.We’vebeenhereattheheartofbusinesssince1857.Ourmissionistohelpourmembersbuildsuccessful,thrivingbusinesses,andtocontinuetoworkwithpartnersonissuesrelatedtothecontinuedtransformationofNewmarket.

ThereareexcitingtimesaheadforushereattheNewmarketChamber.Wearebuildinganewsetofservicesthatwillhelpkeepourmembersaheadofthecurveinbusiness.InJanuaryweareintroducingPeerGroups–anamazingconcentrationofChamberbenefits–learning,networking,businessdevelopmentandmore.

Inthemonthsaheadwewillcontinuetointroduceinnovativenewopportunitiesforourmembers.

WewillcontinueourcommitmenttoparticipateincollaborationssuchastheSharedDigitalInfrastructure(SDI),theNewmarketEconomicDevelopmentAdvisoryCommittee(NEDAC),BusinessInnovationinChangingTimesSeriesandotherstrategicinitiatives.TheseinitiativeshavehelpedearnNewmarketaplaceintheTop10PlacestoLiveinCanada&recognitionasthestrongestonlinebusinesscommunityinOntariowitha2013Googlee-TownAward.

TheChamberbelievesthatstrongcommunitypartnershipsdriveeconomicdevelopmentandcommunitytransformationandwewillcontinuetoworktogetherwithkeystakeholderssuchastheTown,theRegion,SmallBusinessEnterpriseCentres,RegionalInnovationCentres,theLibrary,Not-for-ProfitsandourmemberbusinessestohelpdrivetheTown’seconomicdevelopmentvision.
