Hello Moose Members, Hope everyone had a joyous and safe holiday season. In case you missed it, we had a great turnout for the Children’s and the Adult Christmas Party. I’d like to thank all those that attended and especially those that vol-unteered their time to make these parties a great success. Our Christmas food and toy drives and coat drive were a success. These are the reasons we do what we do at the lodge. Raising $$$ for charity and donating food to the needy are what the lodges true purpose is. It is a good feeling when an event is successful and a goal has been reached. With that being said I would like to thank everyone who donated food and toys for the Christmas drives. I would also like to thank everyone who helped with the drives. Our annual Super Bowl party is almost here. Our wonderful volunteers are working diligently to provide our members with a very memorable experience and the best quality food. Don’t forget that the Lodge is only open on Super Bowl Sunday for those members that have a ticket and their guest. We appreciate your cooperation. Just a reminder that the annual Officer elections will be coming up in a few months. If you are interested in be-coming an officer, I suggest coming to a few of the lodge meetings between now and election time. And as always, we need more volunteers for our Lodge. If you have any free time, please give your name and number to one of the officers or bartenders. I look forward to seeing you at the Lodge. Fraternally yours, Frank Rozell
Hello All! Happy New Year! I hope that our members were able to enjoy the holidays. I know I did! A big thank you to all who participat-ed in our food and toy drives through the last couple of months. It was greatly appreciated. Be sure to be safe this winter. Hope-fully Mother Nature will be kind to us so that you will be able to come to the different events that are being held at the lodge in the upcoming months. WOTM will be hosting a soup and chili cook-off on Feb. 26th. We need contestants as well as participants. Look for the flyer for details. Be sure to be at the lodge and enjoy the choices, vote for your favorite and watch Daytona 500. We are continuing to do pizza every Thursday night starting at 6pm. We will be hosting veterans from the Charlotte Hall Veter-an’s home on Jan. 19th. Please join us! Bring the family, we look forward to seeing you and if you can’t make it, then maybe you will be able to join us for a Friday night dinner. Remember, we’re always looking for new volunteers, ideas, etc. Please mark your calendars of our meeting nights, which will be the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Looking forward to seeing you there and in the Lodge.
Fraternally yours, Beth Garner
Administrator Notes: : To all of Lodge members I would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s. It’s been a long year (sometimes It seems like a lot more than 365 days) and a very rewarding one. The mem-bers here have stepped up and we have accomplished a lot. I want to say thanks to all of you that gave up your time to complete these projects. And to Moose International for our $22,500.00 grant. The only small renovation left is the two small bathrooms and the hallway by the office. We could use some help here so we don’t have to sub it out to a contractor. Kick off around January 21
st,2017.I promise you that once we get the
restroom project completed I will not ask for too much of your help till summer. Speaking of summer, the build-ing committee has made a small list of project that need finished or started.
a) Second coat of paint on the curbs. b) Paint all the sheds c) Paint the fence in the back-patio area. d) Main sign needs sanded and painted e) The whole lodge needs a fresh coat of paint (but we are going to leave that to the next administra-
tion) f) The roof needs to be resealed g) A few bar stools need to be replaced. That should be enough for you to get the idea that when we have small fund raisers to help with these
types of smaller projects.
Note to EVERYONE: We have three books that you’re entitled to participate in if your due’s card is paid up. They do get up therein prize money. However, we have a problem. Your bartenders are responsible for making sure the money is cor-rect at the end of the night. Some of our members think it’s funny or outrages that Frank and I put in the book that we are a quarter or two short five out of seven nights a week. Well it might be funny but if they win do you believe it’s ok for them not to pay like you do? The quarter book is an honor system so please focus on that one word HONOR. I don’t believe that someone just forgets to put their quarter in that many times a week. The other two books, if you ask for the five-dollar book and then you pass it around at the end someone should be able to look at the book and if seven people signed it there should be $35.00in it. The bartenders have been up $15.00 short at the end of the night. Dumb rules are made because of dumb things that go on here.
Hawkeye
Each community has its share of local heroes, whether it’s a member of the military or a local firefighter or police officer. They are often asked to handle high-risk situations, putting their personal safety in jeopardy. Beyond that, on a daily basis, they are viewed as role models that have the ability to make positive changes for their commu-nity and beyond. How can the Moose honor these local heroes? Through the gift of membership! It’s a natural fit for those who look to make the best of difficult situations, just as Moose members try to improve the lives of those they touch as well. From January 1st through April 30th, 2017 Moose International will waive all first-year fees and dues for active military personnel and first responders and encourage our lodges, chapters and Moose Legion’s to do the same. If you know someone who is serving our country or provides first responder services for your community, now is a great time to reach out and offer them a membership in the Moose.
