Dear Parents and Carers,

With only a few weeks to go until the end of the academic year, it’s hard to believe that yet another academic year is drawing to a close. Sadly, there are a number of staff members that we will be saying goodbye to at the end of this term.

In the newsletter last month, I shared that Miss Ilsley would be leaving us at the end of term as she has secured a new post working in the Middle East.

Mr Loft, who has only been with us for 2 terms, is also on the move as he relocates to West London. He arrived from Australia in December 2017, to replace Mr Simmonds, to fill a 2 term contract with us. He has worked hard as a member of the Year 3 team, getting to grips with the oddities of British education system. We wish him the best of luck upon taking up his new role in West London.

Mrs Webb, who has been with the school for 16 years has decided to take early retirement. She has crisscrossed key stages during her time at Chadwell, having a significant impact on learning. She has also led on the development of Computing across the school, supported students who have been on placement mentored staff new to the school. Her departure will leave a huge hole in the fabric of the school but we would like to wish her the best of luck on her new adventure.

Mrs Rhodes, who has been with the school for 10 years has also decided to take early retirement after 35 years of service. During her time at Chadwell, she has raised standards in Year 6, supported the development of early intervention, worked with parents and members of the local community to foster community cohesion and led the induction programme for staff new to teaching. More recently, she has taken up the challenge of returning to full time class teaching and has been raising standards in Year 4. We wish her the best of luck in all the other ventures she will have time to pursue.

Mrs Lennard has been at Chadwell for 17 years. For the majority of this time she has been in Year 6. Her great sense of humour has been appreciated by staff and pupils alike. She has worn many hats, staff governor and maths lead are just a few. She has been the backbone of Year 6 for many years and her decision to retire hasn’t been an easy one. Her humour will certainly be missed but hopefully she will pop back to say hi and gloat about the joys of being re-tired.

In the next few weeks, children will find out who their new class teacher will be in September. I’m pleased to say that we are fully staffed and look forward to welcoming new staff in September. Next week is Exhibition Evening; this is an opportunity for you to come into school and view your child’s work. We look forward to welcoming many of you next week.

Regards, Mr L Walker

Farewells... Dear Parents,

Many of you will be aware that I will be leaving Chadwell at the end of term. I have often been

referred to as a ‘boomerang’ teacher as I’ve been working at Chadwell on and off for a total of 7 years!

The staff and children here are wonderful, they are a real asset and the main reason why I kept return-

ing!

During my time at Chadwell I have taught in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. In recent years I have been

the SENCO and Acting Assistant Headteacher for the school. I have also been a member of the

Governing Body since October 2016. I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Chadwell and establishing

such great relationships with many of you. Although I’m sad to say goodbye (for the third time!!) I am

very excited to take on a new role of Deputy Head of Foundation Stage at an international school in

Abu Dhabi.

I am very pleased to inform you that Ms Antoinette Labuschagne will be taking over my role of

Assistant Headteacher (with responsibilities for Inclusion and SEN) in September.

She is currently already doing the job and works in a local primary school in Redbridge, so be rest

assured that she is experienced and fully aware of the systems and processes within Redbridge. I am

confident that the school will be in very safe hands!

Meet the New SENCO

On Friday 6th July we will be holding a coffee morning which Ms Labuschagne will be attending. This

will be a great opportunity for many of you to meet her prior to her starting in September. Please feel

free to drop into school anytime between 9.15-11.00 am. It would be lovely to see as many of you as

possible.

Miss Ilsley

I have been working at Chadwell for nearly eleven years now, but it’s gone really quickly as it’s been so

busy and interesting! I’ve met some lovely people here - colleagues and pupils; and I feel like I’ve learnt

as much as I’ve taught!

After very many years of teaching in East London primary schools, I’ve decided it’s time to have a

change and try different horizons.

I’m sure I’ll come back here sometimes though, as I’d miss it if I didn’t.

I wish everyone here all the very best for the future. Particularly all the staff who are leaving; and to all

the Year 6 children – good luck! You are lucky to have been here.

Best wishes, from Mrs Rhodes

Chadwell Primary School would also like to say thank and wish, Mrs Lennard,

Mrs Webb & Mr Loft for all the best with their future endeavours!

World Cup Match Reports

Calling all budding reporters we need you!

As you may have noticed, the World Cup is not in full

swing and dozens of matches have already been

played. As aforementioned a couple weeks ago, we are

asking children in KS2 to write match reports for any

games they watch (especially the England ones).

The match reports can be hand written on typed up.

Chosen match reports will be stuck up outside of Mrs

Smith and Miss O’Kane’s office.

The match report should include: the participating

teams, the score, the location and attendance, key

events such as goals, missed chances and bookings.

I have attached two examples of match reports on the

next pages as a model for children to work from.

Regards

Mr Halilaj

Match Report By 5 Malala

Thursday 21st June 2018

Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

Arg ina 0-3 Croatia In this Group D encounter between two heavyweights of

world football, Croatia absolutely destroyed the former

world cup finalists Argentina.

The first half was a cagey affair with neither side managing

to hit the back of the net. The first goal was scored by the

Croatian number 18 Rebic in the 53rd

minute of the game.

Croatia doubled their lead thanks to a brilliant individual

goal by their inspirational captain Luka Modric (The Real

Madrid midfield maestro)

The game was sealed for the Croatians in the 91st minute

by Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic, who scored a simple tap in.

This result leaves Argentina (and Lionel Messi) close to

exiting the world cup and the group stage. However, Croatia

are now through to the last 16 and look set to progress

further.

Spain 3 – 3Portugal 7:00 pm, 15th June, Friday

Fisht Olympic stadium [Att: 43866]

Spain, who lost their manager Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the tournament, were seemingly heading towards victory after coming

from behind twice to lead 3-2 with just minutes remaining, but Ronaldo, who became the first player to score in eight consecutive major tournaments, denied them right at the death on Friday night.

Earlier, the Real Madrid forward opened his Russia 2018 account from the penalty spot in the fourth minute before Diego Costa

fired Spain level in the 24th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo's first World Cup hat-trick helped Portugal to a 3-3 draw with Spain. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a dramatic late free-

kick to complete his first World Cup hat-trick and rescue a point for Portugal after a thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain in Sochi.
