Sapphire Coast Engineering Challenge This event has run for four years and consists of a series of fun engineering challenges where students solve working as a team competing against other local schools.

This year due to COVID the event was not held at the usual venue at Kalaru, but a scaled down event was held at each individual school.

The events were developed by the University of Newcastle and include making and firing a catapult, making and controlling a bionic hand and the ever-popular bridge building. Bega High students enjoyed the day – their comments appear below.

Thanks go to Emma Prowse and Zane Hodson (prac teacher) for helping out and also building a superior catapult. Thanks also to Charlie Blomfield and the Rotary Club for organising these events for our students.

Sponsors include Bega Cheese, GHD and Bendigo Community Bank

IOIS Class Report WOW!! What a busy week we had.

On Tuesday 25th May, we joined with other students from our Support Faculty to walk down to the Indoor Sports Stadium in Bega. There, we met students and staff from Bega Valley and Wolumla Public Schools and Disability Inclusion Officers from NSW Department of Education for a fun-filled day of sports.

We participated in AFL, Cricket, Boccia, Golf and modified athletics activities such as javelin, discuss and shot put.

Everyone had a wonderful day and all staff members were proud of their level of determination, persistence and participation.

Well done all of you.

Hi there, An Army Support Gap Year role is a unique opportunity for students to experience life in the Army, without needing to make a long-term commitment. The skills obtained through the Army Support Gap Year program will provide them valuable work and life experience, which are transferable to civilian employment opportunities. It enables Gap Year members personal and professional development for their next endeavour.

In an Army Support role, recruits will learn logistic and task management skills to ensure the Army has the necessary supplies for exercises and humanitarian operations. Gap Year recruits can experience what life in the Army is like in one of three rewarding Army Support Gap Year roles. They may assist in the movement of supplies as a Driver, manage logistics as a Warehouse Coordinator, or become the point of contact within a unit as an Administration Assistant.

Gap Year applications are closing soon. Explore more about the Army Support Gap Year. Click a role below or contact Defence Force Recruiting on 13 19 01 for more information.
