What you can do: Commit to “Dining In” on Dec. 3 Prepare and eat a healthy meal with your family on December 3 Take a photo of your family preparing a healthy meal and post it to Facebook, Twier, and/or Instagram using #FCSday and #healthyfamselfie Ask your friends and family to “Dine In” Pin your favorite family meal recipes to a “Dining In” Pinterest board. Create your own posts about family mealme Remember for new recipe ideas featuring Kentucky Produce, check out the Plate It Up KY Proud recipes at plateitup.ca.uky.edu. New recipes are added year-round and we have free recipe cards at the Extension Office. Office Holiday Schedule: Extension Office will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 24 – Jan. 2. The office will reopen on Jan. 3, 2017. We will also be closed on Jan. 16 for Marn Luther King, Jr. Day. Weather Policy: If school is called off in the county due to weather condions, Homemaker programs will be cancelled. However the Extension Office should be open for our regular office hours unless it is severe and we have an Emergency Closing. Open Sew Days- the Nifty Needles sewing service group usually meets monthly at the Extension

Office. No workday in December. January workday is Jan. 23 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome to help with their service projects. Current project is making comfort caps for cancer patients.

The group is led by Master Clothing Volunteer, Rosa Smith. She is also the contact for the local chapter of the American Sewing Guild which meets monthly at the office, usually on the 1st Mondays at 6:00pm.

County Quilt Club meets monthly at the Extension Office on 2nd Wednesdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Anyone can come by and show off your latest quilt project or learn quilting techniques from others. For those interested, they also offer a quilt block exchange each month.

Beginning Quilt Class on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 from 9:30am – 4:30pm. Cost is $20. The instructor is Patty Pruitt. You will learn the basics of quilting as you make one block. Will cover all the basics you need to get started, such as: thread, needles, rotary cutters/rulers/mats and much more. You will learn to cut and piece accurately. Bring lunch and/or snack. Class size is limited. Supply list given at registration. Registration deadline is January 20.

Basic Machine Quilting Class Tuesday, Feb. 17 at two different times: 9:30am- 1:30pm OR 5:30- 9:30pm Cost is $15. Instructor is Patty Pruitt Class will look at what you need to know to get started with machine quilting. Will discuss different methods of marking, how to properly prepare your quilt and more. Class size is limited. Supply list will be given at registration. Registration deadline is January 31.
