A.B.E. Charity Cup 2008 - Players wanted!

A.B.E. football cup is a yearly held charity match organized by the three Chambers of Commerce in Chengdu, namely the British (BCCSWC), American (SACC) and European Chamber(EUCCC). All proceeds from team registration for the football match will be donated to assist the development of local charities focusing on child welfare. This year’s event will be held on October 19 on the campus of the Chengdu Institute of Physical Education.

Maxxelli Real Estate joins the football match with their Chengdu and Chongqing teams and is looking for more players to support. The game is all about fun and no professional skills are required. If you would like to join or know somebody who would be interested, please contact Cynthia on [email protected].

Salut — Spanish-Catalan Restaurant

Salut is one of the more hidden restaurants in Chengdu, but once you found it you get fully rewarded. The only Spanish Tapas Bar in town does not only have delicious Mediterranean food, but is also a very cozy place to just enjoy a glass of wine. Salut is run by the friendly Catalan brothers Pepe and Agusti Gazquez, who do not compromise in the ingredients of their dishes: olives, olive oil, vinegar, salsa, anchovies, wine and other specialties are imported from Spain and can also partly be purchased in the restaurant. Amongst many excellent dishes on the menu, Salut’s Catalan chef works his magic on seafood, paellas, salads, Spanish tortillas and all sorts of tapas. The outdoor space is great for having a “cafe con leche” during the day, while the light scent of seafood, garlic and candles is likely to make you move inside the restaurant in the evening. The Gazquez brothers seem to have an endless repertoire of Spanish music, which adds to making your visit a little journey to Europe. If you want to indulge even more in the Spanish feel you are welcome to join Salut’s Spanish movie nights on Tuesdays, with movies shown on the little restaurant’s big screen.
