Principal’s message Harmony Day Poster Competition Earlier this year, a group of interested students submitted posters to the 2019 Harmony Day Competition. Clarice has been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ and will receive her award at NSW Parliament House. Congratulations, Clarice!
Teacher Accreditation Did you know that teachers have to be accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)? Accreditation involves collecting evidence to support the Australian Teaching Standards in terms of the requirements of NESA. The evidence includes extensive professional learning, observations of practice and reports written by supervisors. Once accredited, teachers have to complete 100 hours of professional learning over a five-year period as part of the maintenance of their accreditation. The latest staff member to become accredited is Mr Gudze; congratulations!

Term 2 Week 7
What’s happening in KHT?
It’s been 17 school weeks since we started big school!
In that time we have enjoyed many new experiences
like: making friends, learning sounds and sight words,
creating art pieces, counting forwards and backwards,
opening our own lunch boxes and putting on our own
jumpers, learning new games and songs and of
course….learning how to read and write stories!!!
Each week we can’t wait to find out what Baby Bear,
Little Chimp, Sam and Bingo, Jack and Billy, James,
Kate and Nick and all those amazing African animals
get up to in our readers!
We are looking forward to sharing some songs with
you at assembly and hope you pop in to the office
foyer to see our umbrellas.
KHT, Mrs Hiscocks and Mrs Turner
LIBRARY NEWS Book Fair Thursday 13 June – tomorrow!! Don’t forget the Scholastic Book Fair is on tomorrow, Thursday 13 June from 8.30am to 3pm in the school library. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase gifts or top up the home library with current literature. If a family would like to purchase and donate a book to the library, a donation label will be placed permanently in that book with the child’s name and year.
Classes will visit the library to make their purchases at the following times:
8.30am – Parents 11.50am – 2/3M 9.00am – KC 12.20pm – 3/4VK 9.30am – KHT 1.40pm – 3/4E 10.00am – K/1S 2.10pm – 5/6W 10.30am – 1/2MD 2.30pm – 5/6B 11.20am – 1/2G

Cross Country Champions
At last week’s whole school assembly, our Cross Country pennants and trophies were awarded. Congratulations, Indy and Ben who were awarded the Kerryn McCann trophy for Cross Country Champions!
Ross was the winning house at this year’s carnival; well done!
Congratulations also to our age champions; great work!
Athletics Carnival 8-13 Years Our Athletics Carnival for students turning 8 - 13 years of age was a wonderful success. The 100m, 200m and 800m races along with the discus, long jump and shot put events were all conducted on the day with the high jump to occur at school. We are fortunate to be able to use the Little Athletics facility located at Bulli High School for our carnival. By using this venue and the school paying for the bus, our carnival has become cost free to our families.
Thank you, Mrs Byrom and Mrs Ellis for your outstanding organisation. Thank you also to the staff who took on various roles and the many volunteers who ran or supported the running of events; we couldn’t have done it without you.
The District Team will be announced before the end of term with the carnival to be held on 29 - 30 July 2019. (Photos are on the website.)
Fathering Project Board Games Afternoon On Friday 21 June Bulli Public School, in collaboration with the Fathering Project, is holding a Dads & Kids event at school – a Board Games and Cards Afternoon.
The format for the afternoon will be as follows:
3:00pm – Arrive with your kid/s 3:05pm – Dads assemble in the hall for a quick discussion with Mr Nielsen re: what the Project is all about 3:10pm – Dads and kids enjoy board games and cards fun 4:00 pm – Home time
The school will provide some board games and card sets for students to play with, but if your children could also bring in games & cards from home on the day, that would be greatly appreciated.
As always with our Fathering Project events, we are hoping that fathers, father figures, uncles, grandparents, mothers or other family members can attend the afternoon. The aim is to engage with fathers and father figures from our community, but all family members are welcome to join in.
No RSVP is required for this event. All you need to do is show up at 3:00pm on Friday June 21 and have a good time with your kids.

Friendly Kids, Friendly Classrooms The social skill for home discussion this fortnight is …
ASKING AN ADULT FOR SUPPORT Stay cool. When all else fails, you can ask for help.
Dos * Make sure you have tried other ways to deal with being given a hard time before you ask an adult for support. * Make sure you really want to stop the annoying behaviour, not just get the other person into trouble. * Say, “If you don’t stop, I’ll go and ask a teacher for support.” * Approach a teacher, look in their eyes and stand tall. * In a firm voice, tell them what the problem is and what you have already tried to do to deal with it.
Don’ts * Don’t ask for adult support until after you’ve tried to deal with it yourself. * Don’t just try to get the other person into trouble. * Don’t choose an inconvenient time to talk to a teacher. * Don’t look up in the air or down at the ground. * Don’t use a whingeing or complaining tone of voice. * Don’t keep threatening to ask for support. Just say it once, and then do it.
