The focus for SWPBS this fortnight is: ‘I can put up my hand’ This is really important as not only does it show respect to the teacher and your classmates but it also provides everyone in the class with a fair opportunity to participate in group discussions. It shows others that you value what they have to say and that you understand that everyone has the right to contribute to discussions and provide responses without being spoken over. Values Document:Bee—Sunday 6th October 1p.m until 5 p.m

School Council has decided to have a working bee on Sunday 6th October the day before

the students return to school on Monday 7th October. Hope you can come along and help.

A list of jobs and tools required was attached to the newsletter last week.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

The work is really coming along at a cracking pace, the outside of the veranda is almost completed, the old vinyl flooring has been lifted, the plaster on the inside of the new wall has been completed and the plumbing and electrical work roughed in. The painter has been organised, the colours chosen for the walls, ceiling and windows. The kitchen cabinets should be installed in a couple of weeks. The front of the old building will be cleaned up, the drinking taps placed at the side of the building, the water tanks removed and as much of the old pipes etc removed. The outside area of this historic school building will also be repainted, e.g. windows, doors, finials and eaves, The garden area of this project will see the development of an Italian feel garden,

espaliered fruit trees, olive trees, herbs, tubs with lemon and lime trees, pizza oven (with

money donated from Dr. and Mrs. Hudson). Thank goodness for the creativity of Susie

who can envisage what needs to be carried out in this area.

The focus for SWPBS this fortnight is: ‘I can put up my hand’

From the Principal: It has been so wonderful to have all of our students back with us at school. It fills me with joy to

hear their giggles and laughter ringing throughout the yard, something that I have missed

terribly. Students are really enjoying reconnecting in person with their teachers and friends and

have settled back in beautifully. I appreciate that for many parents there were mixed emotions.

Many were glad to hand the task of teaching back to the teachers. Many parents had also

expressed to me that they treasured the extended quality time that they had as a family and the

opportunity to gain a real insight into the way their child/children approached learning.

Jayde and Olivia, our School Captains, delivered their first assembly via WebEx last Friday. They

did the most amazing job, running the assembly with enthusiasm and confidence. They have

certainly become much more apt with the use of technology! They were also given the

opportunity to deliver The Acknowledgement of Country to the Principal network meeting which

demonstrated their outstanding public speaking skills. Well done girls!

Pick Up/Drop Off Arrangements

Thank you to all parents and carers for your care and consideration when dropping off and

collecting your children each day. Everyone has done an incredible job of arriving at their

designated time and leaving promptly which has ensured that the process has been smooth and

that there are enough carparks for everyone. This is also an important time to remind you to

please use the roundabout when collecting your children rather than reversing out as safety is

our top priority.

We appreciate it is difficult for you not to be in the school but please remember that we are only

just a phone call or email away.

Semester one reports:

Today parents and carers will be sent a letter explaining the report format and expectations for

semester one 2020. The Department of Education and Training has adjusted the expectations of

Student Reports for Semester 1 in recognition of the transition to remote and flexible learning

during Term 2. While our school has continued to deliver its teaching and learning program and

monitor the achievement and progress of each student, there have been some unprecedented

changes to our usual program. At Pyalong Primary School we know it is vital to involve students

and their parents/ carers in learning which includes providing reports on student learning. We will

provide a written report for the parent/carer of each student enrolled at the school for Semester

1 however, please note there are some changes from our usual Semester 1 reports which are out-

lined in the letter attached.

Prep 2021 Enrolments

We are currently accepting enrolments for Prep 2021. If you have a sibling due to start school

next year or if you know of any families that have a child starting school next year please let them

know that we are accepting enquiries and enrolments. Enrolment and enquiry information is

available on the school website. We are unable to provide on-site school tours at the moment

however but can take enquiries and let prospective families know when we are able to show you

around! Our school website address is https://www.pyalongps.vic.edu.au/
