2 FOUNDER'S DAY AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, GBNnd

Delhi Public School, GBN celebrated itssecond onFounder's Day November 24, 26& 27, 2016. The three day event witnessed thepresence of eminent dignitaries. The Chief Gueston November 24, 2016 was Mr. RamanujSingh, City Magistrate of Noida. Along withother distinguished dignitaries, Mr.Munesh Kumar, DIOS, Gautam BuddhNagar also graced the occasion. The eventof November 26, 2016 was presided by Mr.Ravi Vira Gupta, Chairman, SchoolManaging Committee, along with Mr.Vineet Nayyar, the Pro Vice Chairperson ofthe School Managing Committee and Ms.Reva Nayyar, Member School ManagingCommittee. On November 27, 2016 theportals of the School was blessed by thep r e s e n c e o f M r . G u l a a m K h w a j aMoinudeen, Grand Nephew of Dr. APJ

Abdul Kalam. Distinguished Principals of other Delhi Public Schools and neighbouring schools of NCR alsoattended the Founder's Day. The function began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guests and otherdistinguished guests. The momentous day was testified by the Parent Representatives, Grandparents andParents of the school. The opening song of rendered by the choirTagore, , “Ekla Cholo Re”; “ Walk alonefriend”, was highly motivational and was extremely appreciated by the audience. The School Band,Crescendo, ; an instrumental piece composed by the Music Department based, onpresented 'Taal Kalam'raag “Charukeshi”. The audience was spellbound by the rendition. This was followed by the Welcome of theChief Guests and other esteemed guests by the of the show. TheComperes School Presentationshowcased the achievements of our Champions. On this occasion the Brochure titled “The Journey of theScientist; Kalam ” titled “Udita” were released by the Chief Guest ,otherand the Sports Souvenirnotable guests and the Principal, Ms. Indira Kohli. Gauri Gupta, a class XI student, who participated inthe National Para Athletic Meet and competed with the Ms. Deepa Mallik in theArjuna Award recipientShot-put and Javelin throw, was felicitated with a cheque of Rs 3000/-. The Art Department also organizedthe “Kalam Art Memorial Gallery” which showcased the talent of our budding Picassos under thestewardship of the teachers. The evening became delightfully memorable and entertaining with theenactment of the play, ” which was staged for the occasion thatThe journey of the Scientist; Kalam ”evoked in all, a sense of excitement and experience of unparalleled achievement. The play was a perfect blendof talent and hard work. was an extravaganza which was not only“The Journey of a Scientist: Kalam”entertaining but highly motivational too. The play enthralled the audience and developed among the studentssensitivity, self-confidence and team spirit, as the innate sterling talents of the students blossomed into joyfulexpression as they performed on the stage. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Head Girl, JigyasaSahay and the Head Boy, Himanshu Payal. The Mega Event culminated with a motivating address givenby the to the audience, who appreciated the hard work behind the success story of the Founder'sChief GuestDay.

The CBSE Cluster Athletics Meet for Boys and Girls was organized by Blue Bird International SchoolMandi Dhanora (Dist. Amroha) from November 24 -26 ,2016. The Inter DPS National Athletics meet for Boys was organized by Delhi Public School Meerut fromNovember 18 – 20 2016

,. Around 63 Delhi Public Schools from all over India along with 800 students

participated in this meet. Dr. D.R Saini (Director DPS Society) was the esteemed Chief Guest. Followingstudents of our school participated in this meet and gave their best results .Results are as follows:

ANNUAL HEALTH CHECK UP

The annual medical camp for students of classes I - XI was organised from .TheOctober 17 26, 2016_

Doctors from Jaypee Hospital Pediatric, Dental,, Sec.128, Noida lead the camp. Doctors ofOphthalmology and E.N.T. attended the same. General health check up of each student with vitals wasdone under the supervision of the teachers.

Joy of sharing was an opportunity for our to explore and share"Interact Club Members"happiness with the one who need the most. is an integral part ofVidya Kendra DPS-GBNwhere under privileged kids from age group of 3-6 come and get free education, justifying theschool motto and to extend one step further. Interact Club"SERVICE BEFORE SELF"members decided to celebrate the festival of light "Deepawali" with them and distributedeatables to them. Little kids gave the company to the members where they danced to the musicwhich was the best part of this activity. The little ones looked extremely happy. At the end, themembers wished the little ones . It was an interactive session full of fun and"Happy Diwali"

entertainment. This was a small initiative to bring happiness in their lives.

An Inter School Competition 'Synergy 2016' was held at Mayoor School, Noida in collaborationwith Mayo College on November 10 , 2016

It gave an opportunity to our students to interact withthe students of various schools. tudents of DPS GBN took part in various competitions with great spirit andSfervour. The day was a great experience in the life of students. There were from our school from35 studentsclasses , who devotedly participated in various events like Oodles of O's, Word Worth, MindNursery–XExploration, Origami, Poem Enactment, Spellathon, Waste-O-Mania, Eureka, Rangometry, Story Weavers,Caricature Drawing, Maths Relay Race, International Tribal Art. In Oodles of O's, Pratham Mehta of ClassPrep First position gold medal and certificate Maths Relay Racebagged the with a . In , students ofclasses IX and X- Ranveer Ahluwalia, Aditi Singh, Shreyansh K. Gupta and Nikhil Vinod secured theSecond position Silver medals and certificatesand received . The Ambassador of SpainEmbassy and Mexico were the Chief Guest at the function. All theparticipants worked diligently to showcase their hidden talent. French Language Teacher's Training Session

- Junior DELF A1 AND A2A training session based on various stages of DELF A1 and A2 (Diplôme d'études en languefrançaise) was held at . Ms.DPS, Mathura Road on November 24 & 25, 2016 AnshuSingh & Ms. Drishti Dua .participated in this Training session The Resource Person, Ms.Caroline Schmitt explained the various descriptors of DELF A1 and the criteria applied forassessing the students appearing for the aforesaid exam. The teachers were given theexercises where they were required to assess the students, based on the evaluation grill for“Production Écrite” and “Production Orale”. At the end of the session, a test was conducted

for assessing the knowledge of DELF A1 & A2.This enriching and informative training session was very helpfulfor the participating teachers as it made them aware how to train their respective students who would beappearing for the upcoming DELF A1 & A2 Exam conducted in the month of December'16.

Strengthening Foundation of Mathematics in Senior Secondary classes

The resource experts were from HomiNovember 3 to 6, 2016Bhaba centre of Science,Mumbai and IIT Delhi who not only enlightened the participants but suggested somevery good books for deep study and research work. The participants from various DPS shared their uniqueexperiences of class room teaching. from theMs. Deepika Maniktalia, a senior teacher Mathematicsdepartment attended the workshop. On Day 4 participants were divided into groups on the basis of the topicthey liked the most and each group presented their new learning on the topic. On the whole the workshopstimulated one and all and bound to pave the way for more strengthened teaching of Mathematics in DelhiPublic Schools.
