Congrega on Calls New Pastor
In a called business mee ng on October 30th, the congrega on called the Rev. Christy Foldenauer to serve as Senior Pastor begin-ning Sunday, November 20, 2016!
Christy has served most recently as the Discipleship Pastor at Gayton Bap st Church in Henrico. Her responsibili es at Gayton included se ng vision and strategic direc on of exis ng lifegroups and classes as well as con nually assessing the need for new group and training new leaders; curriculum assessment; providing pathways for adults to get connected to the church through membership and service-oriented ministries; preaching several mes a year and ongoing teaching responsibili es for various groups.
Christy has been involved and served in various leadership posi ons in area churches for nearly twenty years. Christy was or-dained while serving Gayton Bap st Church. Prior to being called to ministry, Christy served in progressive management and lead-ership posi ons with Wachovia Bank.
We eagerly await Christy’s first Sunday as we move into God’s Future.
Thank You Pastor Search Team!
We are thankful to the Pastor Search Team for their commitment to and diligence in the search process. The Team received and reviewed over 200 resumes from around the country but the finalist already lives in this area.
Our hear elt thanks and apprecia on to the Pastor Search Team: Jeff Easton, Paul Hare, Sue Stout, Sally Waldrop and Burt Walker! Your work and process will always be a blessing.
A er Rev. Christy Foldenuaer begins her ministry on Sunday, November 20th, I will con nue to serve on Sundays and one day per week with my last day with you on Sunday, December 18th.
Some months ago, I began to sense the church’s need for a smooth transi on when the congrega on called the new Senior Pastor. By design, the Inten onal Interim Pastor leaves at least one month prior to the new pastor to facilitate closure with the Inten onal Interim and me for the congrega on to prepare for the new pastor. However, I began to sense a different approach might be helpful for Tomahawk. With this approach I would be a part of the Sunday service and work one day per week for up to one month. This would allow, hopefully, for a smooth transi on and “hand-off” from me to Christy as well as an opportunity for she and I to work together for up to a month.
This transi on was met with agreement by the Deacon Body, the Pastor Search Team, the Personnel Team and the Administra ve Council. Christy, as well, likes this transi on process. On Sunday, November 20th, I will begin the revised schedule. Christy and I have talked about which day during the week for me to be here and it probably is going to be Tuesdays.
It has been wonderful to work with and serve you during these past two years. I am deeply grateful for this season and I am hope-ful for the future. You are very fortunate to have called such a grounded, mature, spiritual, though ul, and gi ed new Senior Pas-tor!
Blessings,

MDBA Christmas Store We have the opportunity to par cipate in the Middle District Bap st Associa on Christ-mas Store again this year. The Christmas Store is designed to help parents provide gi s for their children on Christ-mas Day who otherwise could not afford to do so. Each family will pay $3.00 per child for the gi s they receive, however if the family cannot afford to pay, the parents will s ll re-ceive the gi s. This offers the parents an opportunity to feel they have contributed to the gi s and also helps offset some of the expenses of the Christmas Store. Each child will re-ceive one ou it and one age appropriate toy. Please leave all tags and receipts with gi s. Each family also receives wrapping paper and a Bible when they pick up the gi s. If you would like to sponsor a child or more than one child, please contact Doris Wampler, 745-9138 or the church office. You will be given the sizes and a family number. The gi s will need to be returned to Tomahawk Bap st Church by November 20.
