NORTHWOODS NEWS

OCTOBER 30-NOVEMEBR 3-last day

WHAT IS IT? Each year the ECASD schools have partnered with Gordy’s Markets and FEED MY

PEOPLE to gather food items and other items for the FEED MY PEOPLE food pantry which serves a vast area

of Northwestern Wisconsin. This is a hub pantry which supplies other pantries through out our region.

WHY? Here is some current figures from Feed My People.

⇒ $1 dollar allows us to obtain $10 worth of food.

⇒ 23 hunger relief programs exist in the city of Eau Claire

⇒ There are over 125 programs in 14 counties.

[They have grown this year. Last year they had 21 programs in Eau Claire and 91 in 14 counties. More

important than ever.]

HOW CAN NORTHWOODS ELEMENTARY FAMILIES HELP? We have been

one of the most successful schools in gathering needed items since STUFF A TRUCK began. That is because

we have a special day when we bring in as much as we can.

We call it “Bag It Day. “ This year we are going to call it “Bag It Day and Bring It Day”— which means

simply that you can also bring in cash or a check to contribute. As you can see above, $1 will buy $10’s

worth of food. Make it out to “Feed My People”.

HOW: ⇒ Bags will be sent home with your student on Thursday, October 29, with a list of needed items.

⇒ Bags must come in by Tuesday, November 3— no later. They will be collected that day by Gordy’s.

⇒ Tables will be set up in our entry for the Bag collection. Bags can be turned in starting on Friday. If you

are sending cash, we ask that these are turned into the office and they will be kept there until the

delivery date. We will have a specific container for cash donations.

BOOK FAIR REPORT: We had a record breaking book fair!!!! THANK YOU

NORTHWOODS PARENTS AND KIDS!!!

A big thank you to all of the teachers that handed in their wish lists and book

recommendations. They are a big help to the parents, and are usually the books that sell out

first. Also a big thank you to everyone that shopped the book fair!!! And of course a big thank

you to all the people that worked the book fair. They made it all possible :) Yeah!!! Here is a

list of all of the winners for various things that we had going on:

• Mrs. Foilles won the $40 in books and Gianna in her class won the $10 in books.

• Mrs. Heath won $5 towards the book fair. We drew her name from all of the names of

teachers that handed in a recommendation.

• Dawson in Mrs. Gilberts class won a book basket

• Finley O’Dell in Mr. Bowmans class won a book basket

In addition to all the people who won books from the fair, Mrs. Misurek was able to take

books for the library and Mrs. Fisher was able to get some new books for her department

using the money we raised for “All For Books”.
