YOUTH GROUP

[2]

We Got Messy! At the Lock-in we had the Epic-est of EPIC relay

races...that might have resulted in some vomiting but you know, whats a church lock-in without some up-chucking. When everything got cleaned up we gathered together in the sanctuary among candlelight and neon bracelet’s glow to worship and start the Youth Group year off right.

A few brave souls journeyed over state lines to “run” the Color Me Rad Race. Some finished, some ran, and some strolled along but

EVERYBODY got covered in a rainbow of colored water and corn starch. We celebrated our victory with some

seafood by the bay and slept for days afterward hoping we might one day walk again.

Recently, we found out that the best way to learn about God’s grace is to completely drench one of your leaders. Grab a bucket kids and

have fun! We also learned that gurgling water while trying to sing is really hard, and really hilarious!

What stories are you going to help create?

Foods that have been banned from YG: 1) SPAM (specifically

uncooked)2) Marshmallows (aka an

entire bag of marshmallows)

3) All future things out of a can that Allysa may throw into a game...or not

Have you invited a friend to youth group

yet???

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER

Special Monthly Occasions

*Family Sundays! Starting in October (unless otherwise noted), every last Sunday of the month is Family Sunday. Each Family Sunday will be themed: game night, sing-a-long movie night, karaoke, arts and crafts, and more. Everyone is invited! Seriously, the whole church is invited. Each family should bring a potluck entrée or side. 5-7pm in the Great Room

*Film Fridays! Beginning on January 17th, and every 1st Friday after, there will be a movie viewing with discussion afterward. This is open to all ages 13+

*Events are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen cats and dogs falling from the sky. Please check email, the church’s website or the youth Facebook page (Newtown Congregational Youth) to know if an event has been canceled or postponed.

Marilyn Alexander

She may be our oldest leader but she’s got the youngest heart! We asked Marilyn a few questions about herself:

Favorite things:I don't know how to tell you about my favorite things except for the color BLUE. I love all kinds of food and a million songs. I guess ICE CREAM would have to be high on my list; but then one of my favorites would be hamburgers!

If you could be an animal:The animal thing would have to be a DOLPHIN.

Anything else you’d like to include: I love life, feel very blessed and trust in God every minute of my journey.

INVITE A FRIEND! All are welcome at Newtown

Congregational Church. Doesn’t matter if you go to another church, no church, or really don’t even know what you believe: YOU ARE WELCOME HERE! Every race, gender, class, sexuality, background: YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!

We welcome: the nerds, outcasts, popular, jocks, the people who just don’t fit in and those

who won’t be defined by a label...the straight A student and the almost drop out...the athletic and barely made it up the stairs...the too many siblings to count and the orphan. The slob, OCD, and very well mannered. The musically gifted and the can’t hold a tune in a bucket. The just can’t get the rhythm out of my head and the two left feet. The weird, the wild, and the super shy.

You are welcome here!
