The Secretary's Report Notes were taken by Eddie Tamplin. The general Meeting of the Three Forks Treasure Hunters Club began at 7:30 PM on November 4, 2003 with the pledge of allegiance and President Paul Mattes presiding. There were 24 mem-bers in attendance. Paul thanked every-one for bringing displays to the last meeting. We then discussed the Christ-mas Party. Chuck Marcum and Grover Tillman made and second a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as read and the Secretary Minutes as printed in the newsletter. Walmart at Tahlequah was not interested in the FMDAC pro-gram. Paul talked to James Byers who said that the FMDAC is moving its con-vention from Grand Lake to Louisiana. In new business Chuck made a sign up sheet for people to bring food to the Christmas Party. Paul asked for volun-teers to run for club offices. Francis Tracy nominated Eddie Tamplin for President and Chuck Marcum second it. There was no comment made. Nancy Coffey will cook a turkey and Paul Mattes will cook a ham. The club will be supplying both. It was announced that the National Hunt will be held the weekend of April 24th and 25th. Gene Coffey and Eddie Tamplin will both share the job of being the Hunt Chair-person. Or should I say Chairpeople? Randall Vogt, Gary Young, and Chuck Marcum volunteered to be on the Hunt Committee. Francis Tracy brought up the subject of the trophies for the Find of the Month and Year Contests. He’ll be making the wood cutouts for them. Paul volunteered to get the trophies engraved and Chuck will add up the total points. We still need a Vice Presi-dent, Secretary, and Treasurer. Gene Coffey then did the Prize Sharing and Jerry Callison handed out the dona-tions. We took a break at 8:10 until 8:30. We then had the Find of the Month. Then Gilbert Leake won both of the Silver Rounds in the drawing. Then we had a motion to close the meeting. All yeas and no nays. Eddie Tamplin

Upcoming Events December 2nd - Christmas Dinner It will start at 6:30 at our regular meeting spot. If you haven’t signed up to bring something you can bring a dessert, vegetable, salad, or side dish. We will be sharing table centerpieces and a huge prize sharing with the club putting in a lot of silver rounds. Awards will be handed out for the winners of the Find of the Month Contest. We will also be having our Find of the Year Contest at the Dinner. It will consist of your best find of the year in each of our regu-lar seven categories and one overall best find. Wall plaques will be awarded in each category. We will not be having our Regular Find of the Month contest in December. You can enter both months of finds in January.

April 24th & 25th - National Hunt Big Thanks to Gene Coffey and Eddie Tamplin who volun-teered to be our Hunt Chairpeople. Big thanks also to Gary Young, Randall Vogt, and Chuck Marcum for volunteering to be on the Hunt Committee. Gary Young will be doing the Kid’s Hunt again and I will be putting on the Deep Competi-tion and Night Hunts. We still need volunteers for the other Hunts. Jerry Callison will be supplying the tents and genera-tors. I will make the hunt fliers this month.

Club members Gary Young, Gilbert Leake, Tom Neville Gene Coffey, Eddie Tamplin, Francis Tracy, and I went to the Shilo Relic Hunt in Tennes-see for the first time. The hunt started when they shot off the civil war can-non. We were told that the prize targets were numbered items. I was going to dig with my hands or a hand digger and I wondered why some people had shovels. I found out that they buried the field by making slits with sharp-shooters and dropping the targets in the holes. That put the targets 3" to 6" deep. I also found out that I forgot how to use a hand digger. The second hunt I used my shovel and dug a whole lot more targets quicker. After the hunt we found out that the prize targets were iron items with numbers painted on them. The first place target was a number one painted on an iron. Some others were painted on axe heads and iron artillery shell fragments. It was a really fun hunt and all of us will be going back.
