17 / 18 September 2011 ► World Series by Renault at Castellet For the first time, Renault Sport chose the Castellet track to hold the World Series by Renault. Some 130 collectors, including more than 30 Renault 4 enthusiasts, made the special trip to enjoy this memorable occasion. The event gave 60,000 Renault-loving spectators the chance to admire the collectors' cars on show in the car park, marvel at a superb F1 exhibition in the Grand Prix Hall, see Alain Prost in an RE40 and Alain Serpaggi at the wheel of a RS01, watch the qualifying stages and races for the FR2.0, FR3.5, Clio Cup and Megane Trophy and enjoy many fun, family-friendly activities.

01 / 02 October ► Lohéac Second-Hand Car Sale

At the 19th edition of the Lohéac Second-Hand Car Sale, the Renault Classic team joined forces with Michel Hommell's company to give the public a variety of events and some memorable moments.

In the blazing Brittany sunshine, Jean "Jeannot" Ragnotti showed off his skills at the wheel of his Renault 5 Maxi Turbo. From the inimitable 360° to the 'bull' around a Twingo R.S., nothing could stop him as his stunt driving wowed the crowd! Just as fun were the pre-war vehicle rides. This year, Renault Classic based its theme on cars from the pre-war era, such as the Juvaquatre and 4CV. Collectors were invited to join us in the car park set aside for this magnificent exhibition and, most importantly, parade alongside us to give spectators the chance to enjoy a lap of the track 'vintage style'. Over

the two days, around 500 people climbed on board these beautiful cars. Our thanks go to all the collectors who took part in the parade.

Finally, this year saw the participation of Renault Sport, which throughout the weekend allowed the attendees to discover the R.S. range by enjoying rides in its vehicles. Next year will see the 20th edition, and remember, the event will take place in the first week of October!

08 / 09 October ► World Series by Renault in Catalonia

An exceptional 2011 season came to an end on 9th October on the Catalonia track near Barcelona. The drivers showed their skills in every category, as the championships produced both runaway winners and intense competition. Renault Classic also joined in the fun, with an exhibition of sports cars and Jean Ragnotti out on the track in his famous Renault 5 Turbo. Excitement guaranteed!

ON RENAULT'S SITES 17 / 18 September 2011 ► 2nd edition of the 'Heritage Days' at Flins

For the second year running, the Flins factory took part in the European Heritage Days, opening its doors to the public on 17th and 18th September. On the bill were activities for children, exhibitions of electric vehicles and classic vehicles from the Renault Collection, demonstrations by the Dynamic Renault Aubevoye Club and a tour of the workshops by miniature train. The two-day event was a runaway success, bringing in more than 3,000 visitors.

17 September 2011 ► 40th anniversary of Sofrastock International

Saturday 17th September saw Sofrastock International celebrate its 40th anniversary and invite its employees and their guests to (re)discover '40 years of enthralling history'.

Created in 1971 and based in Saint André de l’Eure (France), Sofrastock was originally a distributor of tools, wear parts for machines and chemicals used by Renault's factories and some of its subsidiaries.

In the late 1980s, Sofrastock began to expand internationally, setting up logistics centres close to Renault industrial sites such as the Valladolid (Spain) and Cordoba (Argentina) factories. The platform then extended its scope of activities to the Aeronautics industry, becoming a partner of Airbus France for fastener logistics.

Forming an integral part of the Alliance's Supply Chain Management Department from 2009, Sofrastock International took the name 'SFKI Supply Chain'.

With 60,000 production tool spare parts and 35,000 small automotive part packaging units delivered every day, SFKI is among the leading procurement companies for the automotive industry.

On 17th September, with the theme '40 years of enthralling history', Sofrastock opened the doors of its head office to its 400 employees and their guests.

The event allowed its attendees to discover the company's history, activities and working environment and enjoy an exhibition of iconic Renault vehicles. It also gave them the chance to try out go-karts and admire the collectors' cars from the Renault collection and those owned by members of the Cléon Normandie Renault classic car club.

'The Forgotten Garage', an event offered by Renault Classic, was also available for the participants to enjoy.

17 September 2011 ► 40th anniversary of the Société de Transmissions Automa tiques (STA) On Saturday 17th September, the Société de Transmissions Automatiques ('automatic transmission company', STA), organised an Open Day to celebrated its 40th anniversary. Created in 1970 and 80% owned by Renault, the STA is the only manufacturer of automatic gearboxes and automotive transmission components in Europe. Based in Ruitz in France's Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, the STA has developed unique know-how it trades abroad, exporting 90% of its production to more than 80 countries. Since 1997, the STA has produced a family of so-called 'proactive' automatic gearboxes, which accurately analyse the driver's behaviour and the road profile and adapt to the desired driving style. Today, 750 employees work in the factory, producing 1,600 automatic gearboxes every day.

In October 2010, to celebrate the site's 40th birthday, all of the workers joined together for a family photograph, with plans to celebrate this anniversary throughout the year. In May 2011, the factory workers and their families were invited on a 10 kilometre walk along the hiking trails surrounding the industrial park.

A few months later, the workers were joined by the general public to exchange ideas on the topic 'STA - building our future'. The Open Day on 17th September was a chance for them to showcase the products and technical know-how of their site. 2,500 people travelled to Ruitz to take part in the various activities. Tours of the production workshops, an exhibition on 40 years of automatic gearboxes displaying Renault Collection models fitted with the technology, quad bike rides and test drives of Renault and Dacia vehicles equipped with STA gearboxes were all on the bill.

24 September 2011 ► 40th anniversary of the Maubeuge factory

On Saturday 24th September, the Maubeuge factory opened its doors to its workers and their families to celebrate its 40th birthday. They were given the chance to discover or rediscover the industrial site by the river Sambre and its history, through exhibitions of vehicles past and present, shows, workshop activities, safety demonstrations by firefighters and the attendance of none other than 'Jeannot' himself. All of this took place in bright sunshine, as 7,500 people rounded off the week's memorable events (which included the return of MCA's first Director Jacques Buchet, a special visit by all-conquering Team Renault cyclist Bernard Hinault and a birthday cake shared out among the workshops).

See you in 2021 for the 50th birthday party!

24 September / 6 November ► Keep summer alive The Atelier Renault is making summer last a little longer with an exhibition on the theme of travel and sunshine getaways. The spotlight is on new products, iconic models and travelogues, set against a multi-coloured scenographic backdrop designed to resemble a road movie. Summer getaways with Renault Wind, also presented in its Gordini version, the Megane Coupé-Cabriolet Floride, the 4L Plein Air from the Renault Collection, the new Renault Koleos and the Megane XV de France.

IN THE CLUBS

04 September ► 3rd 4CV and Dauphine Meeting Some 60 crews came together at MCA (Maubeuge Construction Automobile) to celebrate the 65th birthday of the 4CV and the Dauphine. This event was a chance for them to discover the site, particularly its production line, in buildings that occupy a total surface area of more than 24 hectares. The participants then drove their classic cars on the small country roads of northern France and Belgium's Hainaut region, arriving at a distillery dating from the same era as the 4CV - 1946. This multicolour procession, a throwback to the 1950s, was witnessed by a number of passers-by. After a toast to friendship and a meal they hit the road, promising to see each other at the fourth Renault 4CV meeting in September 2012.

The event will be attended by Georges Irat and Rochet Schneider, accompanied by some racing cars and the legendary 4L, whose 50 birthday cake candles will be blown out at the show. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

10 years and counting!

Unveiled as a concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1999 and quickly presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September of that year, the Avantime arrived on the market in early 2001. It was a completely new architectural concept, with proportions that were unconventional yet which respected the basics of premium-range cars: safety, comfort, handling and equipment. Through a subtle alchemy, Avantime combined the values of several types of vehicle. It had the 'people carrier' look, space, functionality and user-friendly features of an MPV; the design, driving pleasure and dynamic road handling of a coupé; and the exhilarating sense of freedom of a cabriolet, with an 'open-air' function that dropped the side windows when the sunroof was opened, a feature made possible by the absence of B-pillars.

17 October ► Renault 4 Ever awards ceremony

A few months ago, Renault and Designboom launched a web contest entitled 'Renault 4 Ever: Design the 4L of the future!' The competition was both popular, with 3,273 entrants, and international, with more than 92 countries represented! On 17th October, the three best designs were rewarded at an evening ceremony hosted by the Atelier Renault. Third place was awarded to Allen Zadeh, who had travelled from the United States, whilst second place went to two Frenchmen named Yann Terrer and Jérôme Garzon. Join the 4L community The Renault 4, the first 'everyday' car, born from a stroke of genius: a versatile car able to go anywhere and lend its services to any occasion; the blue jeans of the car world. From the moment it went on sale back in 1961 it became a veritable social phenomenon, going from strength to strength in its more than 50 years of existence by meeting the aspirations of various generations. It was more than necessary to perpetuate this legend on the net through a Facebook fan page. That’s now been done; since 21 April this year, the Renault 4 has its very own official page.
