The Daily MeetingAs humans (instead of computers) we
have to accept that it isnt easy to keep
everything straight in our schools and in
life. It takes a lot of effort to keep on top
of things but we do know that:
Its proven that if you plan your
activities you will produce 10 to 100
times more than if you dont.
We have talked about this many times in
terms of our personal goal setting but it isreally more important in our schools.
This is the way we go about planning and
it has to result in a daily plan and a daily
meeting... but this is the number one
thing schools skip... and its
deadly...
Step One - MonthlyIn all of our schools the monthly plan is
due on the 20th of the prior month. This
means the staff has to get together and
figure out:
A Complete Staff Plan
A Plan for All Students
A Plan for FInancial Results
Not to mention all the planning that goes
on before this like the ABC list, etc. We
have to force ourselves to do this. This
should be based on:
What YOU want to make
What the SCHOOL needs to
make (the Base Operating
Expenses + profit+bonuses+reserve)
Is this a BIG enough goal? If its
not exciting, then it wont be
motivating.
Step Two - WeeklyEvery Tuesday and Thursday when we
train we report the goal for the week
(based on step one
above) and the plan to
get there. This is
always done
publicly:
I am
going to
make
$21,331
by... Thisweekly plan is
where the
daily plan
comes from. We can go on with more
detail here but our subject is the...
Daily Plan & MeetingIt should be held every day at 2:55pm
(8am Saturday). We only spend 5 to 10
minutes on it. It should cover:
How much were going to make
(Financial)
Who we need to talk to?
(Enrollment & Retention)
What do we need to do to get
everyone ready to graduate?
(Retention & Instruction)
At the end of the meeting every staff
member for the day needs to know what
they have to do in each area and what the
group totals are. If any staff member is
absent (say they arrive at 5pm), then they
do a quick check in on what they need todo (no you dont get to stick them with
the worst jobs!)
Its important to note that the goal of the
daily meeting is to have everyone have a
personal responsibility.
Start every daywith a plan!

I'm not old enough to play
baseball or football. I'm noteight yet. My mom told mewhen you start baseball, you
aren't going to be able to
run that fast because you
had an operation. I toldMom I wouldn't need to run
that fast. When I playbaseball, I'lljust hit themout of the park. Then I'll beable to walk.

MAKING EVENTS ACTUALLY WORKTHE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS THE RESULTS...I often hear about events like a Show and Tell or a kiosk or a school promo and when I
ask how many people enrolled, its often an embarrassed well... none yet. I dont know
about you, but if I am going to spend time preparing, driving there, teaching the class,
packing up, calling afterwards, and following up... I WANT TO HAVE SOME RESULTS!
One part thats neglected is the Package prospective students get. This has to have thefollowing:
In a Priority Mail or similar envelope.
Has a Certificate - some showing of achievement for participating.
Has some Stuff like stickers, frisbee, pencils (with our 800 number) - this is to make
it fun but also bulky so its noticed at home.
Has a VIP or Guest Pass
Has a Pass for a special class with PIZZA on the upcoming Saturday.
A Letter to the parents explaining all of it (They are not there and need to know
about it!
Anything else you can think of! Dont be stingy!
If you consistently do this for all of your events, school activities... even birthday parties,
you will at least triple your results. Dont miss out on any of this!
