L Roberts— Principal
Dear Parents/Carers
I would like to update parents on the work on our new
sports hall. All the work is currently on track to be handed
over in the summer holidays and we are hoping to have the
Official Opening in November. The field works will
commence in July and the fields will probably be out of use
until spring next year! We do however, have plans in place
to ensure that the St Bede's winning performances
are unaffected.
Our pupils and staff who went to France and Skern Lodge will
be returning today. Throughout the week we have had very
positive feed back that the pupils were happy and healthy,
they were learning how to live together, help and understand
how to share a community life and also to look after
themselves. I am sure we will find them quite grown upon
their return.
Congratulations to Natalie
Hatfield, in year 7, who
qualified to be one of only 6
Under 13 girls to compete
for the West Midlands in
the Mini London Marathon
last Sunday. The race
covers the last 3 miles of the
main London Marathon,
with the customary finish
down The Mall. She ran
fantastically well, exceeding
all expectations and
improving her PB by 50
seconds. She was first girl
home for West Midlands
and managed to finish 22nd
out of 246 in a time of 18 minutes and 34 seconds. Natalie has
another year in this age group and so, hopefully, she can qualify
again next year.
Remember school will be closed on 2nd May. Here’s wishing
everyone a superb weekend break and I will see you all on 3rd
May.
“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain.” John 15
Jesus told us that if we love him we will
keep his words and that his words are from the
Father. Jesus while he was alive encouraged his
disciples not to be afraid because the Father will
send the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, in his name
and He will teach them everything. Jesus also
said he was telling them all these so that when
the time occurred they may believe.
This Sunday, the 6th week of Easter, let us re-
ignite our minds and hearts to pray for the
coming of the Holy Spirit into our daily lives,
and let the Easter blessings come alive.
Like the disciples we must be prepared to
uphold our faith and it is not easy in this
materialistic world that we live in, sometimes
we do not even remember to love our
neighbours, let alone God. Let us use our time
wisely and to say our prayers and attend Mass.
Lastly before Jesus died he comforted us by
saying ‘my peace I leave you, do not let your
hearts be troubled or fearful’.
During this Year of Mercy let us bring into our
family lives the Spiritual & Corporal works of
mercy.
The Holy Spirit is like the air. Invisible, but without it
animals could not live.
The Holy Spirit is like Love. Without it everyone would
be sad.
The Holy Spirit is like peace. Without it people would be
fighting.
The Holy Spirit is like water. It cleanses you.
The Holy Spirit is like joy. Without it people would be
distraught.
The Holy Spirit is like friends. Always there for you.

As part of our RE lessons about love and relationships, we will be discussing the place
of sexual relationships over the next few weeks. This area will be considered as part of
our learning on God’s love for us through the creation of humanity and continuation of
creation through acts of love. We will be focussing on the dignity of the person to help
prepare students for when this topic is studied in more detail at GCSE level.
