Dear Parents,
I hope that everyone has enjoyed the holidays
with their children. There has been some great
stories told of the fantastic and exciting things
that took place over the holiday period.
Community for Nature Grant
In term three Kim and parents from school
council applied for a grant to improve the dry
creek bed at the school. This week they have
been informed that they are successful with the
grant application. Tawonga Primary School has
secured $10,000 for the development of the dry
creek bed. Well done and thankyou to Yvette,
Kate and Kim on their hard work completing the
application.
Julian Collins
Last Friday night Julian Collins (Mr Collins) had his
retirement send-off (few drinks at the Dederang
Pub). Thanks to everyone who attended his
farewell, it truly was a memorable evening, with
great company, terrific speeches and excellent
music arrangements from Julian and friends.
Working Bee
On Saturday a dedicated group of people
participated in a working bee at school. A huge
‘Thank You’ to all who were able to come along
and give some time. The gardens are looking spic
and span. Your help is much appreciated.
Prep Transition Day
This Friday will be our first prep transition day,
starting at 9.30am to 11.00am. This Transition
day will be held with Mrs Ellen Gorham. It is very
important for the students to become familiar
with all staff at the school as well as the students.
Therefore, this program will allow our preps from
2014 to participate in the transition and to
introduce the new preps to a buddy from year
ASSEMBLY FRIDAY 3pm.
4 and/or 5. All looking very positive for 2015!
End of Year Performance
It is that time of the year again where we start
to get ready for the end of year production.
This years production is called ‘The Circus’. So
far, the students in Year 3-6 have read through
the play and taken a look at all the characters.
So PARENTS if you are interested in assisting
with the production either by helping the stu-
dents to act, preparing back drops, organising
costumes, teaching students to sing, please ex-
press your interest to myself or Lisa with an area
you are able to help out with. I will organise a
meeting with interested parties by weeks 3 or 4.
Kim’s Progress
As many of you will know, Kim’s father passed
away unexpectedly last week. Kim will be taking
some time off and a replacement principal is
being organised during this period. Depending
on availability, this will occur either next week
or the week after. During Kim’s absence this
week we have been lucky enough to have Trish
available to teach in the classroom. The stu-
dents are working well and we thank Trish for
her work during this time.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
Our next scheduled school council meeting was to be next Wednesday the 22nd. In order to have the principal position filled
and for them to settle in, we would like to postpone the meeting to the following Wednesday 29th at 5.15pm.
OUTSTANDING SCHOOL FEES 2014
Families who have fees still outstanding for 2014 will receive a statement with todays newsletter. Please make payment to the
school office as soon as possible. Alternatively payments can be made via BPay. If families have any questions regarding their
statements please don’t hesitate to contact Lisa on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
JUNIOR SPORTS DAY
Tawonga Primary School hosts the Junior Sports Day each year where we have the Prep to Year 2 students from Mount Beau-
ty, Falls Creek and Dederang Primary Schools come along to enjoy a day of games and activities. This year this event will be
held on Wednesday 12th November. Any parents who are able to assist with this please speak with Kellie. More information
regarding this day will be out in the coming weeks.
RESILIENCE EMERGENCY AND PREPARE (REAP)
Next Tuesday our Year 3-6 students will be attending a program held at Mount Beauty Primary School which will educate them
about the need to prepare and plan for emergencies, without being too scary.
This program is offered and run by Alpine Shire and is designed to encourage students to go home and talk about what they
have learnt and in turn to encourage the parents to think about their own risks where they live, what they can do to decrease
that risk and encourage planning that the entire family is familiar with.
This program will run between 10am and 2pm and is Free of Charge. Mr Wright will be driving a small bus supplied by Falls
Creek Coaches too and from the event. Students are asked to return permission forms by Monday to Mr Wright.
Students are required to be in school uniform and bring their snacks, drinks and lunch as usual.
Any further information can be given by Mr Wright at school.
