School Swimming Sports What a fantastic day we had at our school swimming sports! Congratulations to all the children who qualified to represent our school at the Zone Competitions later this month. Notices have been sent home to those children. Many thanks to all the staff for their organisation and a special thanks to Mrs Grant and Mrs Campbell for their work towards the smooth running of the day. Thank you also to the parents who helped out on the day. We cannot run this event without you!

Family Fun Night

Between alert levels we managed to fit in our Meet the Teacher and Family Fun Night! Thank you to the PTA for putting on such a great night.

Walk and Wheels Day It was great to see so many children walking, scootering and biking (and the odd roller skater) to school on Wednesday for Walk & Wheels Day. Thanks to our PAL’s for organising this event.

Our Lady of the Assumption School Board of Trustee By-Election 2021 Nigel Urquhart & Mike Evans have resigned from the Board of Trustees. We thank them for all the valuable work they have done during their time with us. This now leaves two spaces on our Board of Trustees and we are therefore holding a By Election.

Nomination round Due to two vacancies on the board our school will be undertaking a By Election for our Board of Trustees this year. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 19th February 2021. We have again employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination forms and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you by Friday 19th February 2021. For those that do not have access to the internet, nomination papers will be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.

Nominations close on Sunday 14th March 2021 at 12 noon. We look forward to your participation in this process. Wayne Jamieson Returning Officer

Water Fountains Please be aware that the school water fountains are not operational while we are at alert level 2. Please ensure that your child brings a drink bottle to school every day.

Scholastic Books The Scholastic Books magazine has been given to each child to take home today. Please note that orders must be done online - instructions are on the order form at the back of the magazine. We do not accept cash or cheque orders in the office. Orders close on Friday 19th March 2021. To view the magazine online click here.

Student Medication

If your child requires medication while at school, please bring it into the school office and we will hold it securely in our sickbay and ensure it is given out at the correct times. If your child is asthmatic, we do recommend that you store an inhaler at the school office for use during school hours.

Sleep Tips for Children Addressing common sleep problems Many school children don't get enough sleep to properly function, learn, and play. KidsHealth offers tips for parents to help with common sleep problems. Sleep Learning about sleep Children who grumble about bedtime may like to learn about the reasons why we sleep.
