Trip to Dunga Gali and

Mukshpuri FAST Adventure Society, FAST-

NU Peshawar Campus also arranged a day-long recreational trip for female students of the University on October 22, 2011 to Dunga Gali and Mukshpuri. The trip was supervised by Faculty members Mr.Khalil Ullah, Mr. Rahat Ehsan and Ms.Fariha Atta along with Miss Kiran. Students left Peshawar early in the morning and reached Mukshpuri at 12:00 noon. Global IEEE Day Celebration

IEEE-DAY was celebrated at FAST-NU Islamabad Campus under the umbre l la of IEEE-FAST Islamabad Student Chapter, on October 6, 2011 with collaboration of Fast Engineering Society. More than 300 students from different universi-ties attended this event.

The first session was initiated by Abdullah Saqib, Chairman of the IEEE- FAST Islamabad chapter.

Dr. Mudassar Farooq, Head of Department, Electrical Engineering, Dr. Waseem Ikram, Director FAST-NU Islamabad Campus, Mr. Hammad Shah, former Chairperson IEEE-FAST and Sohaib Ali Khan, Chairperson IEEE-FAST addressed the audience and laid emphasis on the need for becoming members of the IEEE family.

This was followed by presenta-tions by the executive body of the IEEE Asia-Pacific region; namely Engr. Mansoor Malik, Ex Chair IEEE ISB, Dr Azzam ul Asar, Chair IEEE PESH, Dr. Aamer Iqbal Bhatti, Chair IEEE Control Systems Society KHI, LHE, ISB Joint Chapter. They spoke about the goals and achievements of the IEEE in this region, the highlight of which was Islamabad chapter being declared the best in the Asia-Pacific region in 2010.

Later, Ms. Maryam (from IEEE-NUST) spoke about her inspirational experiences at an IEEE Student Congress held in Auckland, New Zealand and Mr. Shahrukh (from IEEE-Bahria University) presented the various achievements of the IEEE in patronizing various innovations by people throughout the world.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Professor Dr. Aftab Maroof.

The common message by all the speakers was that the audience should realize the responsibility they carry as engineers and that the IEEE has a special role in using their energy and potential in a constructive and effective manner.
