Back To School – Lunch Box Ideas
Keep them fuller for longerBase the lunchbox on foods like bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. Choose wholegrain where you can.
Less spreadCut down on the spread used and try to avoid using mayonnaise in sandwiches.
Cut back on fat
Pick lower fat sandwich fillings, such as lean meats (including chicken or turkey), fish (such as tuna or
salmon), reduced-fat cream cheese, and reduced-fat hard cheese.
DIY lunchesWraps and pots of fillings can be more exciting for kids when they get to put them together. Dipping foods are also fun and make a change from a sandwich each day.
Always add vegAdd in Cherry tomatoes, or sticks of carrot, cucumber, celery and peppers all count towards their 5 A DAY. Adding a small pot of reduced-fat hummus or other
dips may help with getting kids to eat vegetables.

ReceptionistsWe understand the frustration you may feel when ringing the Doctors being faced with numerous questions by the receptionist. You may think the receptionists are nosy when asking what the problem is, but they are just doing what they have been told to do. The Doctors have asked the reception staff to find out the problem so they can direct the patient to the correct clinician. It is not always necessary to see a GP.
Here at the Village Surgery we have a wide variety of clinical staff, each member of staff has different skillsets.
Advanced Clinical Practitioners who can diagnose, prescribe and refer. Urgent Care Practitioners who can deal with chest, urine and respiratory infections, back problems, and minor
illness. Prescribing Nurses who can deal with minor illnesses such as chest infections, tonsillitis, urine infections,
coughs and colds.

Stroke Advice and Guidance
The main symptoms of stroke can be remembered with the word F.A.S.T
F ace – the face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have dropped.
A rms – the person with suspected stroke may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm.
S peech – their speech may be slurred or garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake; they may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.
T ime – it's time to dial 999 immediately if you see any of these signs or symptoms.
The “FAST” (Face, Arm, Speech, Time) campaign is memorable, but omits important symptoms like headache and vision problems.
So remember the Act FAST campaign - Has their face fallen? Can they raise both arms? Is their speech slurred? Is the patient complaining of headaches and vision problems?
Sepsis – Do you know the symptoms?
