Wendouree Primary School 19th June 2020 Next week is KINDNESS Week at Wendouree PS. Each day students will

participate in Literacy based activities exploring the

KINDNESS theme. This is an integral part of our

Respectful Relationships Program at school and reinforces our TRIBES

Learning Agreement of APPRECIATION.

As part of our Annual Implementation Plan for 2020 we have recently revisited our TRIBES

Agreements at school to assist students to have ownership of what each of these TRIBES Agreements looks like at school. I have included a

summary of this activity in today’s newsletter. This has been a great way for us to reinforce with students how important these agreements are for

ensuring we all stay happy and safe at school.

Next week is the last week of this term. It has certainly been a term with a difference hasn’t it? The holidays will give us all a chance to recalibrate I think ready for a busy third term of learning. Please take note of the early

pick up times for next Friday the last day of term two.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Parents are asked to remain in their vehicles and are not permitted to enter school grounds with their child/ren at both Drop Off and Pick Up Times. Staff will supervise students during these times and assist them to their classrooms in the morning and back to you outside the

school gates in the afternoon. If students walk together with their parents to and from school we ask that these parents leave their children also at the school gate and do not enter our

school grounds.

We ask that once you have dropped off or picked up your child/ren that you leave the carpark as soon as possible to alleviate congestion in this area.

If students are unwell they must not come to school. If students present as unwell during the day parents will be notified and will be required to pick their child up from school. Please contact the office on 53 391229 or text 0429 202 754 if your child/ren are absent.

Drinking fountains and taps are not to be used during this time. Students must bring

a named water bottle from home please.

There will be no Lunch Orders on Fridays for the remainder of the term.

Thank You Everyone

For your care and patience in and around our carpark as

we continue to follow The Department’s COVID19

policies.

Broccoli Pesto with Pasta

Ingredients

600g broccoli

125ml (1/2 cup) extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic cloves, finely grated

1 teaspoon dried chilli flakes, optional

1 lemon, zest and juiced

40g Pecorino or Parmesan cheese, plus extra to serve

Salt and cracked black pepper

Pasta - orecchiette, farfalle or spirals are great!

What to do…

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil. Trim the broccoli, halving any larger stalks

lengthways so they cook evenly. Add the broccoli to the boiling water, and cook until

quite soft. Scoop the broccoli out and drain, keeping the water to cook the pasta.

2. Put a pan on a medium-high heat with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then the grated garlic,

lemon zest (and chilli if using) and fry for a 1 minute or until fragrant, don’t allow the

garlic to brown.

3. Add the drained broccoli (careful as you will be adding wet broccoli to the oil), stir and

cook for about 10 minutes, breaking/mashing the broccoli a little as you cook it.

Season with salt and pepper.

4. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in the boiling water for 4 minutes, or until al dente.

5. Drain pasta, and add to the broccoli mixture. Turn off the heat, add lemon juice and the

finely grated Pecorino or Parmesan and toss through until the pasta is well coated in the

pesto.

6. Serve with a salad, crusty bread and extra grated cheese.

BURNT BUTTER BISCUITS

INGREDIENTS

125g

1cup Self-Raising Flour

½ cup sugar

1 egg

Vanilla essence

WHAT TO DO…

1. Preheat the oven to 140C. Line 2 biscuit trays with baking paper, or spray well

with cooking spray.

2. Melt butter in a saucepan, and continue to cook until butter has turned a light

golden brown. Remove from the heat.

3. Add all other ingredients to the butter, and mix until combined.

4. Roll into teaspoon-sized balls and space them onto a lined oven tray.

Make sure you leave room to allow the biscuits to spread.

5. Cook in the oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

6. Allow biscuits to cool slightly for a few minutes, before removing them from the

tray and allowing to cool on a cooling rack.

7. Store in an airtight container (or eat straight away!)
