Friday, 7 th February Term 1 - Week 2 Building strong learning partnerships Welcome back to our wonderful little school for 2014. We hope that you had a very safe, relaxing and fun filled Christmas, New Years, Australia Day and School Holidays. It is great to see everyone back and ready to start learning. There has been lots of smiles and laughter as friendships are reunited and some tears as Kindergarten and Preschool start their education journey. We would like to welcome two new staff members to our team, Sarah Fryirs in our Kindergarten class and Janis Tahu in our year 6 class. We would also like to welcome all of our new families to Doonside and we hope your time with us is a wonderful experience. If you require assistance please do not hesitate to come and speak with the office ladies. Please check our important dates over the page. Remember………. * No smoking on school grounds * No alcohol on school grounds. * No dogs on school grounds. Purchases and Payments at Doonside…. If you are purchasing uniforms or making an excursion payment please be aware that as of 11.02.14 no payment will be taken on Tuesday mornings before 11.30am as this is when school finances are completed. Canteen News Canteen will be closed on Fridays , as there are only enough volunteers to open Monday – Thursday. If you would like to assist please see the ladies in the canteen. School Banking will resume Monday 10 th February. 2 nd prize for our P&C Christmas Raffle still is yet to be claimed. IMPORTANT NOTICE.. All visitors to our school must come to the office and sign in and out. This is very important. We need to know who is on the premises at all times, for the safety of our staff and students.Lost Property

If you have lost an item at school, please go to the canteen to check our lost property box. PLEASE NOTE if your childs clothing is clearly labelled there is more chance of it being found and returned. Please note Doonside PS takes no responsibility for lost items as we do not make a profit on uniforms. These are sold at cost. WHS.WORK HEALTH & SAFETYParents please feel free to come and report to the office any issues you see within our school grounds that you feel are unsafe or a possible danger/hazard.

Please ensure your children enter our school grounds through our school gates and not through the car park.IGA FruitWe would like to thank Rainbow Super IGA for the continued support in supplying fruit to our school. HELP NEEDED! We are very fortunate at Doonside P.S to have a large collection of new books. But we need help covering them.

HEAD LICEJust a reminder Head Lice is a common problem in school children, please check your childs hair regularly and treat as needed.

Bike Safety.. Helmets

If your child is riding a bike/scooter to school, please ensure that they are wearing a helmet and are following road rules. Children are not to ride bikes/scooters in the school grounds. Bikes/scooters are to be left in the bike shed which is locked between 9.30 2.30.Absence NotesIf your child is away from school please send a note into the class teacher, including date of absence and reason. Stationary

All children received a list last week of stationary requirements. School fees are not payable at Doonside Public School but we do ask that ALL families provide their child with the basic tools for learning.
