Primary School Weekly Bulletin 23 rd April 2010 - Issue 9 SPORTS DAYS Next week will be very busy with three Sports Days in the Primary School. - Tuesday 27 th April Foundation Stage 9.30am- 12.00 - Wednesday 28 th April Years 1, 2 and 3. 9.30-12.00 am - Thursday 29 th April Years 4, 5 and 6 9.30 – 12.30 Pupils should arrive at school for normal registration time, already dressed in their school tracksuits or PE kit with sun protection already applied. Pupils in Years 1 – 6 are asked to wear t shirts in the same colour as their house team. The pupils will then remain in their PE kit for the remainder of the day. The stands are not covered, so protection from the weather must be brought (raincoats, umbrellas, suntan lotion and hats). It is only in the event of extreme conditions that the Sports Festival will be postponed or cancelled. We would be delighted to welcome any parents to support this event, and hope that as many of you as possible can join us on the day. Susan Stark DRAMA CLUB The Drama club is looking for new members to perform in their end of year production of CAMP ROCK. The show features acting, dancing and singing so we are particularly keen for new members who can dance or have gymnastic skills. Please see Mrs Briggs for more details. Their next task is to organise their class' stalls for the Summer Fair on Friday 21st May. S Robinson What an explosion! In pre-nursery and nursery we had a visitor, the science teacher from secondary Mrs Valentine who showed us some experiements that by magic went ´pop´ We watched as she mixed bicarbonate of soda with vinegar and put it into small containers with lids and waited for the explosion. The picture tells the story !!! The children had a great time and it sparked off lots of excited comments throughout the day. We can´t wait for the next visit! Mrs Lippingwell Year 4 have just completed a great geography topic called Reuse Reduce Recycle. It is all about how we can help look after our planet and other environmental issues. Both classes finished the topic by making something beautiful using recycled materials. Mr. Finca's class made fantastic photo frames (please look at the display as you enter Key Stage 2) and 4dC make colourful creatures which now live in all Key Stage 1 and 2 classrooms reminding children (and teachers!) to recycle as much as possible everyday.
