Pluralsight provides online learning for professional software

developers, IT specialists, and creative technologists. Neumont

University has partnered with Pluralsight through Enterprise Projects

to help the company prepare to host more learners on its platform

and to understand how the influx of users would aect various

systems within the company.

Think Big helps companies leverage the power of big data to make better decisions. On a

recent Enterprise Project, students created data visualizations. The team built software

that allows users to quickly research and assess data using birth and death records

from across the country. In 2014, Think Big launched the careers of three NU alumni.

Since 2011, Workfront has partnered with Neumont University on

Enterprise Projects. The organization provides project management

solutions for many major companies including Nike, Starbucks, Dell,

and Sony. Most recently, teams have worked on

product development, front-end development,

testing, and quality assurance. On average,

Workfront hires a Neumont graduate each quarter.

Each quarter, teams of Neumont University senior students are paired with local and national companies to work on real-world Enterprise Projects.

Students learn new technologies, navigate the workplace, and build a portfolio of impressive projects. This is just one of the reasons why our

graduates are sought after in the tech industry, and why many of our Industry Partners hire our students before they even graduate.

"The Neumont Enterprise Project program has been a great

experience for Pluralsight. Not only has it given us the

opportunity to mentor some great new engineers, but it’s

also fueled our ability to complete hard-to-tackle projects."

Jody BaileyCHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER, PLURALSIGHT

"One of the most important concepts we mastered

at Neumont was learning how to learn. We gained

a lot of the skill sets we needed to actually hit the

ground running once we started our jobs."

"We partnered with Neumont after hiring some

of their graduates and seeing the great skill

set they brought to our company. It was a

great chance for us to broaden our exposure

to Neumont students as well as allowing us to

gain some great employees."

Matt ActonPRINCIPAL DATA ENGINEER, THINK BIG

“Neumont students are very good at self-reliance.

They come well prepared at basic Java

programming and are very positive. They’re not a

drain on our resources because they don’t need

to seek out help – they’re an asset.”

INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS,REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

As part of their course work, a team of Neumont University BSGD students have worked with React Games

in developing the cross-platform video game Super Dungeon Bros. The game is a rock themed, co-op

dungeon brawler with a band of mighty rock bros who navigate the medieval fantasy realm of Rökheim.

Working with many technologies like Visual Studio, Unity, Ruby, C#, and Java, students developed back-end

systems for gameplay, created levels, and implemented new features from design documentation. The

team worked together on the project helping each other along as they were mentored by the React Games

developers. And now, a few of our grads work there full-time. Learn more about the game at

www.superdungeonbros.com.

“I spent three years working on technical prowess,

but in the end it’s a composition of art, music, sound,

and programming that truly make a game. And this

project helped me see that almost immediately.”

“The React Games team still considers themselves

‘students.’ They’re willing to learn. They’re excited

about programming. And they’re happy to help

you learn, too.”

“The best feeling was realizing that this work matters.

It’s a real project. The code I’m writing is actively running

in a game that’s being play-tested and will be released.”

When you grow up in a small Texas town, with only 34 members in your

graduating class, there’s not exactly a plethora of activities outside academia

in high school. But for Jarrett Coggin, the lack of extracurriculars at school

meant a growing passion for all things computer science.

“I developed a love of computers and programming,” he says. “I was really interested in the way things work, and played a lot of video games,” he adds with a soft chuckle. “I actually started to wonder—what makes up all these pieces?”

He distinctly recalls getting into trouble for disassembling the home computer.

At the end of high school, he was accepted to MIT to start school the

following fall. Then he came across information about Neumont University.

He could tell there was something dierent about the school and was excited

about the year-round, accelerated program.

“Working in quarters, instead of semesters, means you’re constantly learning.”

In the end, he made the trek from Texas to Utah. In addition to project-based

learning and the overall atmosphere of Neumont, he fell in love with the

mountains. “I remember thinking, 'This is beautiful; I love the scenery, and I

don’t have this in Texas.' It showed me how dierent things would be.”

Through networking contacts and Enterprise Projects, Jarrett was hired

shortly after graduation and his career in tech has landed him jobs from

Florida to California. A job transfer from Yahoo brought him to San

Francisco, and now he’s working for Tesla – a company changing the

automotive industry.

"Technology is everywhere; software is everywhere," he says. "With

Neumont, you are going to be pushed. If you don't want the standard

experience of six hours of lecture a day, and you want a hands-on

experience that's what you'll get at Neumont."

Anthony CorbinCLASS OF 2015SOFTWARE ENGINEER

After attending an arts and science-focused high school, Anthony knew

the fast-paced education at Neumont University would be a natural fit.

His mother was supportive of his college choice and promised they

would find a way to make it work.

In addition to graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in

software and game development, he worked as a tutor throughout

his education. He credits the university’s project-based curriculum

with helping him make the connections needed to land interviews

at Google and Sony Playstation. Both companies made ocial

oers of employment, and Anthony accepted the oer from

Google before he even graduated.

He says, “Neumont helped me get where I wanted to be.”

“The curriculum and culture cultivate an environment where going above and beyond the baseline is encouraged. There is no ceiling to what you can accomplish.”

“We saw him grow from an immature 17-year

old to a very wonderful and mature 20-year old

who is thinking analytically. The school did

what we thought it would do. It was really

excellent; we’re very proud of him.”

“We picked Neumont for specific reasons, and

we are nothing but pleased. Neumont has

exceeded all of our expectations in every way:

from the sta to the students to the support –

everything. We are really pleased. It gives you

a baccalaureate program that teaches you

everything from the bottom to the top. And

when you walk out the door, you’re ready

to walk into an employer’s front door.”

For more than 20 years, I’ve been involved in education and training

programs that prepare students for life-changing careers. From my

time at Stanford University and Brigham Young University to my

work at Lincoln Educational Services, I’ve seen first-hand how the

combination of theory, skills, and experience prepares students

for their career right after graduation.

And at Neumont University, our students are graduating in only

three years.

I enjoy seeing the maturity and change in a student that comes

from a focus on experience and employability. Neumont’s

project-based learning model goes beyond the classroom lecture

and takes students through a curriculum that culminates with an

Enterprise Project – where students are given real experience,

working on real projects, for real companies.

We frequently hear from students, alumni, and our Enterprise

Partners that “Neumont University is a place where you learn how

to learn.” It’s one of many reasons that 97% of our graduates are

employed in the computer science field following graduation and

have an average starting salary of $63,000 with companies like

Microsoft, Amazon, Yahoo, and Google.*

Like our students, I’m passionate about results. And that’s why

I plan to continue our university’s tradition of excellence built

on a solid foundation of results-driven education.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

3N E U M O N T U N I V E R S I T Y / N E X T / V E R S I O N 6 . 0

“The experience I received from Neumont was much more

intense and demanding than the team projects I've worked

on after graduation. It gave me the skills I needed to excel

at my job, including teamwork, leadership, and the ability

to quickly learn and apply what I've learned to my work.”

“I’m ecstatic to say that without my education I never would

have been able to achieve an entry level position of this caliber,

and I’m so thankful for all those that helped me get here.”

“At Neumont, I got a lot of experience in dealing with learning

on the go and that ability to learn has been the most important

tool I have had since I left. Never easy, never boring.”

STUDENT LIFE

Students demonstrate the projects they have been working on at our bi-annual science fair-style event on campus and compete for prizes in each category. The winners are selected by faculty and the community.

“It’s invigorating to know that my project was one of the best. It just gets me more excited to work on more projects and get out in the real world and do real work.”TAYLOR BOYDBSWDCLASS OF 2016

Capstone Projects are individual assignments a student must complete on their own in their seventh quarter to demonstrate that they are ready for Enterprise Projects.

Twice a year, students with the best Capstone Projects are invited to demo them to the public. The event is held at the Salt Lake City Public Library, where alumni and industry partners choose their favorite projects and declare them champions. This year, Taylor Boyd’s Chrome web extension, Project GLoW and Taylor Bos’ privacy site, LockShare took top honors.
