nexus network brexit - network grant project
TRANSCRIPT
Objective: Explore the possible consequences
that Brexit could have on UK water-food-energy
systems and the natural environment.
We were engaged by Nexus Network Brexit project leader Dr Guy Ziv. The programme consisted of 3 distinct phases.
1. Facilitation to clarify objectives and
collaboratively plan the approach to a complex issue.
2. A workshop for a broad cross section of 30 academic and industrial experts to list key drivers and inter-connections affecting UK domestic consumption of water, energy and food.
3. A follow-up workshop to use the outputs and knowledge from the expert workshop and map these into an analytical model which is being used to test and to forecast how the UK domestic water, energy and food demand will change under different assumptions and scenarios.
What was achieved
• Consensus across disciplines
• Tangible data for modelling

What We Did
• Provided structured workshop designs, with clearly defined steps, which enabled the researchers and stakeholders to immerse themselves in the exploration of the complex NEXUS interconnections.
• Established and maintained momentum to enable all perspectives on factors and interdependencies to be captured using a novel semi quantitative model
How did facilitation help?
