nexussquared Insights March 2016 Dear nexussquared network member, Welcome to our second edition of 'nexussquared Insights'. We have had another productive month with lots of activities across the 'nexussquared' platform and would like to share some of the highlights with you with this update. Events @ nexussquared On February 22nd, the second edition of our ‘nexussquared DrinkUp’ networking event took place @LIMA bar in Zurich. 70+ people interested in FinTech and blockchain technology joined the event. Nektarios Liolios, Co-founder and CEO Startupbootcamp FinTech outlined his view on blockchain in an inspiring speech ‘Beyond the blockchain hype’. All eyes were fixed on him when he talked about his experience with startups, the increasing attention on the topic of blockchain and which influence this technology might have on the financial industry.

In addition to our monthly 'DrinkUps', we hosted several nexussquared sponsored blockchain meet-ups in the CEE region. Danny visited Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, and Tallinn in order to meet local blockchain start-ups to promote the ‘nexuslab’ start-up programme. On March 13th, Danny was part of the jury at the START Hack in St. Gallen. We will also attend the START Summit on March 18/19, 2016 and look forward to meeting many of you there in person as well. For our friends in the Western part of Switzerland, we are offering a ‘DrinkUp’ on April 7, 2016 in Lausanne. The event will be co-hosted by EPFL MoT eMBA Alumni Association. We are looking forward to welcoming many of you there. Finally, we are looking forward to our third 'DrinkUp' on Mach 22nd. Efi Pylarinou and Bernard Lunn, both founding partners at Daily Fintech will talk about “Real time settlement using blockchain”. More details and the registrations can be found via our homepage.

 

Partners @ nexussquared At the beginning of March, we were able to secure a partnership with the Zurich based company SwissQ. We are proud to offer our 'nexuslab' start-ups a 'Pop-up Lab' in the heart of Zurich near Paradeplatz and the lake when they spend the final month in Zurich in June 2016. Startups @ nexussquared The final preparations for our blockchain startup programme ‘nexuslab’ are running on full speed. Over the last weeks we reached out to more than 250 blockchain related startups across all of Europe in order to introduce our programme and our efforts resulted in 35 highly interesting programme applications to date. The application phase is running until March 31st and we are expecting many more to come. We then look forward to kicking off the programme with our finalists on April 24, 2016 with the first weekend-hangout session taking place in Amsterdam. Mentors @ nexussquared Our online application for professionals being interested in becoming a mentor for ‘nexuslab’ is live. Anyone who is interested in becoming a mentor and who can add relevant business experience to the programme and its start-ups is invited to fill in the contact form on our website. So far we have more than 30 mentors who signed up from across the globe - the full list of mentors will be announced on our website in the coming days - make sure you check it out regularly!
