Project   Description : Pfizer is deploying the solution for Release 3 to the Singapore Plants and associated entities. The organisation scope consists of 2 plants - Pfizer API plant and Weyth Nutri plant (the scope was reduced to 1 plant as Weyth's Nutri plant was descoped with diversifaciton in later part of 2011), one regional sales organisation and one centralised sourcing organisation. Apart from this, the solution was also deployed to GFS in Dalian and the COE for Finance in Singapore.

The objective was to implement and deploy the SAP Global Solution with enhancements to Singapore entities. The solution covers Manufacturing Execution, Supply Planning, Sales Order Management, Procurement, Quality Management, Plant Logistics, Business Intelligence. Technology platform includes SAP, Ariba, AMPS (Rockwell MES), ARIS, EzMap etc.

The project is targeted to roll out solution in following area:

I have been involved from the initiation of the project covering the following phases:

The combined IBM-Pfizer team includes:

The IBM team is around 20 SAP consultants

The Pfizer Regional COE team is around 20 strong

The Pfizer local site team has more than 20 BPLs

On a regular basis, the IBM team is expected to work with the Pfizer Global Core Teams for solution delivery.

For this deployment project. IBM consultants initially received knowledge and took direction from Pfizer regional COE team. Beyond the second half of the Solution Confirmation phase, IBM consultants would step up to take a leading position to work with Pfizer local site team (BPLs) as the Pfizer regional COE reduced their presence on-site. The IBM team had specific deliverables and although during the initial period of the project, the team had significant challenges in working together, understanding the methodology and adapting to the working environment, the team went through the classic Form-Storm-Norm-Perform cycle and rose up to the occasion and deliver above expectation quality deliverables.

Contribution: My role and objectives as Deployment Lead on the project are:

1. Building a strong and cohesive team nearly from scratch comprise of 20 consultants in the SAP module areas, Ariba, data migration

2. Plan for the detailed work, activities to achieve IBM's and Pfizer's (both Regional COE team and Local Site team) deliverables by phase

3. Monitor the progress of deliverables and identify risk, issues, road block that will affect the timely and quality of delivery

4. Manage the IBM team and provide very close guidance to the Pfizer Regional and Local Site Team during the absence of the Pfizer Regional Deployment Lead

5. Manage all senior stakeholders in the plants and participating entities including Pfizer Regional COE team

6. Responsible for Project Financials and with a personal target to improve profitability by using a right mix of resources without affecting the quality of delivery

7. Boast and maintain the client confidence in the IBM team and the morale of the combined team

Successfully completed deployment of the global solution with site specific enhancements on time and within budget. Achieved smooth cutover and go-live. Project completed post go-live support at the end of April 2012.
