Continuing Healthcare

FOI 63520 Personal Health Budgets In relation to the current financial year (17/18) could you please provide me with information relating to the first 20 occasions in which you sanctioned the use of a patient’s Personal Health Budget (PHB) to be spent on something that was NOT for the provision of care, medicine, or transport to a place where care or medicine was provided. For each of these 20 occasions please state (i) what the money was spent on and (ii) how much money was spent on it and (iii) what was the outcome the patient was working towards as a result of this spend?

A. NHS Kernow does not store this type on information in a format to produce this information. Each support plan is developed in order to provide the optimum health outcomes. If activities such as horse riding, hydrotherapy are identified within the support care plan as conducive to the health outcomes then these will be paid for via PHB.

How many PHBs for individual patients were in operation in the 2016/17 financial year and what was the total cost of them?

A. Across NHS Kernow PHBs for 74 patients were in operation for the financial year 2016/17 at a total cost of £1,849,557.89

1. Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know how many people in Cornwall have applied to be assessed for NHS funding who have dementia and how many with any form of dementia have received funding for the full cost of their care. Can you please include data for the past three years.

A. 938 people applied for assessment between Oct-14 and Sep-17.

Firstly, I would like the names of all centres to which adult patients under this CCG are referred for NHS assessment and diagnosis of autism (including both autism with intellectual disability and “high functioning” autism or Asperger Syndrome).

If the patients are eligible for CHC then the Manchester Tool is used to provide an indicative budget, if not then the needs are individually assessed and an appropriate budget is agreed using market costs to direct cost of a service.

1. How many allegations of a) sexual assault and b) sexual harassment has your organisation received against GPs or CCG employees in each of the past four years? A. NHS Kernow does not hold the data requested for GPs, please contact NHS England, which commissions GP services: email [email protected] The following answers apply only to staff employed by NHS Kernow. Fewer than five allegations were made. If the number is very low (fewer than 5) the information cannot be disclosed as it could potentially identify the individuals involved, especially if combined with other data, this would constitute a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998. FOI 63590 General Practice Forward View The General Practice Forward View set out that CCGs should provide £171 million of practice transformational support to general practice. This investment is designed to be used to stimulate development of at scale providers for improved access, stimulate implementation of the 10 high impact actions to free up GP time, and secure sustainability of general practice.
