nhs speech

“Salam, hale shoma chetoreh?” (Hello, how are you?) I froze up, not knowing what to say back. I was volunteering at the Stony Brook University Spouse meetings, speaking with the husbands and wives of International Graduate and PhD students. This wonderful person who addressed me in particular, Mariam, was Persian, and I could speak in the native tongue. My job was simple: address any questions, comments, concerns about her new life in America. She said hello to me, and yet, I could not muster a simple response. Suddenly, in my peripheral vision, I saw one of the directors of the program, Veronica, excitedly speaking to someone whom she had never met before. The excitement seemed to glow off of her. Immediately I knew what to do, and Mariam and I were instantly engrossed in conversation. I now initiate conversations, and am interested to not only help those who I meet, but to learn from them as well. That one moment when I saw someone step up to a challenge and meet it I was inspired. However, with that inspiration came the capacity to energize others as well. I firmly believe that a single moment can truly change a person’s life. This is the mark of a true leader: the power to arouse, the power to move . With the office of President it is my duty to provide each and every person I meet with the steps to create change both in themselves and in society. Currently NHS hosts 45 events every year. I aim to not only increase the number of events, but also to encourage each and every member of the club to strive to achieve the honor that this club stands for. For example, I would love to sponsor a Saint Patrick’s Day festival with events geared towards both children and teens with the proceeds benefiting the St. Baldrick’s foundation for cancer research. The peace corps does just as much in helping the developing world as it does in developing its volunteers to be the foremost leaders of society. As a member of the board I will also strive to increase both cooperation and communication within the club; one of the most effective aspects of the club is the website that the current president runs. In an ever changing and tech savvy society it is one of the easiest ways to gain the attention of the more than 240 members

However, with that inspiration came the capacity to energize others as well. I firmly believe that a single moment can truly change a persons life. This is the mark of a true leader: the power to arouse, the power to move. With the office of President it is my duty to provide each and every person I meet with the steps to create change both in themselves and in society. Currently NHS hosts 45 events every year. I aim to not only increase the number of events, but also to encourage each and every member of the club to strive to achieve the honor that this club stands for. For example, I would love to sponsor a Saint Patricks Day festival with events geared towards both children and teens with the proceeds benefiting the St. Baldricks foundation for cancer research. The peace corps does just as much in helping the developing world as it does in developing its volunteers to be the foremost leaders of society. As a member of the board I will also strive to increase both cooperation and communication within the club; one of the most effective aspects of the club is the website that the current president runs. In an ever changing and tech savvy society it is one of the easiest ways to gain the attention of the more than 240 members of the club. Every member should have knowledge of club events and gatherings at any time, right from their phones. My goal in this year of service is to be the change I want to see in others: as a member of the board it isnt just my task in guiding the club through its endeavors: it is also to better myself. Mochakeram, bedoun: har soalee keh shoma daree, man hastam baraye shoma.(Thank you so much, know that if you have any questions about anything: I am here for you)
