Career Objective To become a key employee. Areas of interest are:

Application/System engineer utilizing my extensive electrical integration experience. Organizing multi-disciplined engineers into task forces to drive issues to closure.

Skills

Failure Analysis on new product development from prototype to production. Support Mechanical Engineers shock and vibration testing. Offshore product transfer experience. Extensive knowledge with LeCroy Digital oscilloscopes, Network/ Spectrum Analyzer. Adept in working across all engineer functions with strong communication and issues

closure.

Career History

Western Digital Senior Staff(2006-2009)/ Principal Engineer Engineer(2009-Present)

Performed failure analysis on disk drive from early development stage to mass production including provide and execute corrective actions to the Mobile 2 ½ inch design team. Latest development technology SMR for mobile drives.

Extensive involvement in yield issues on current, new developments, and member of transfer product team.

Responsible for root cause failure analysis and its corrective actions as issue arises.

Provide FA support for EVT, RDT, and EBEST for most Mobile products. Train Mechanical engineer/technician to MIT on Mobile product op-shock

failures. Provide input to System Tools group for ease FA capability across products.

Maxtor/Quantum Corporation:Maxtor - EE PCBA Lead Project Engineer - 2001 to 2006

Performed failure analysis on PCBA and drive level from early development stage to end of project, including provide and execute corrective actions.

Worked closely with PCBA designers to ensure the final PCBA is accurate, complete and cost efficient.

Coordinated multiple engineering groups to resolve issues such as noise, EMI, ESD, power consumption, etc.

Interfaced closely with multiple vendors to resolve issues and design verifications.

Extensive involvement in yield issues on current and new developments. Involved in securing second source for various components including new parts

and vendors qualification. Supported and lead various teams among the engineering groups throughout

the PCBA development phases on existing and new projects. Designed and co-designed various test equipments to enhance/support ongoing

projects. Responsible for bringing product from early development to mass production as

smoothly as Integration Lead (Apollo SATA) to provide FA daily updates, supports, and assist to resolve issues in all areas including: firmware, servo, read write, channel, and electrical.

Extensive involvement in failure analysis on a daily basis from early drive development to mass production such as provide and execute corrective actions on all FA issues, perform design verification test using Digital Oscilloscope, Frequency Generator, Network/Spectrum Analyzer.

Major contribution in transfer of design to overseas manufacturing partner MKE. Developed scripts in MatLab to evaluate areal density capability and detailed

characterization of the head and media without a fully functional drive. Worked extensively with Firmware and Servo engineers to evaluate and modify

error recovery algorithms. Resolved major issues such as noise reduction in single ended preamp chip and

reduced total drive build cost. Major contributions to drive team in key issues such as implementation of the

Flaw-scan process (defect scan,) die temperature characterization, offshore support (Japan) in channel thermal sensitivity.

Interfaced with multiple vendors with design issues to find root cause and corrective actions.

Toshiba America Information System:Senior Staff Test Engineer - 1989 to 1993

Setup new test process for newly design 1Gb drive for the manufacturing line. Worked with firmware engineers to develop self test FW for defect mapping to

save million dollars of test equipment. Trained production test technician disposition failed drives. Set up and maintained failure analysis procedure.

Priam CorpFA Test Engineer - 1985 to 1989

Performing failure analysis and yield improvement of disk drives during design to mass production and customer qualification.

Key member of transfer team of high volume manufacturing partner overseas.

EducationUniversity of Arizona, Tucson

Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering 1985
