Some figures:• Electronic communication is the
main channel for sending OHIM communications (38,000/month – 52%)
• 20% of incoming communications (4000/month) are electronic to be compared to 8.5% with old website
New system of electronic communication
What communications can be received electronically?• 90% of all letters (652) can be sent by electronically• Objective is 100% by September
How?• Set up as ecommunication user in Option in User Area• Communication are received in the communication inbox• Official notification is 5 days after being sent (date appearing in
inbox)• Optional email can be triggered. Only recommended for non
frequent users

Communication inbox • 3 TABs• NEW tab contains new incoming communications – when read(opened)
communication are moved by user to Archive or Pending tabs• ARCHIVE tab contains communications only for 30 days• PENDING tab contains communications moved until cleaned by users –
recommended to clean for improving performance• SENT tab contains all sent communications except the ones sent on Oppositions
(improvement being implemented in coming weeks)Advanced functionalities• Search• Filter• Sending – forwarded limited to 5 Mb• Setting up my incoming workflow with subprofile

How and where?• Actions in eSearch or Reply button• Directly typing or copying in Message field or attaching a letter• Attachments type: PDF/JPG• Attachment size: 20MB max
Advantages• Speedy and security : communication is automatically routed to the corresponding
file (CTM, Oppo,…) and examiner is notified• Safe submission: copy of the communication in Sent item and in eSearch (day after)
