What Do You
Believe?

Everyone believes something. • When it comes to
spirituality, those beliefs become
focused on life's big questions.
• What you believe is important.
• It influences your whole life.
![Page 3: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
What makes us do what we do?
How come people can have the same circumstances,
training, exposure, education even finances
Yet as they grow up they end up differently, behave differently and do things
differently? What makes us do what we
do?
![Page 4: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
What makes us do what we do?
What you do is the sum total or product of our;
Choices, Values, Belief,
Experience, Knowledge and the
Environment
![Page 5: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
1. Environment What others think and do,
because the world was existing before they were born
into it. The people had some ideas,
beliefs and mindset and when we came into the world we learnt from them and if their
thinking was wrong then what we learn is wrong.
The environment first feeds you.
![Page 6: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
2. Knowledge
What you know! Not what somebody
else knows. What the environment
teaches you. What you are going to
learn by yourself.
![Page 7: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
3. Experience What you go through by
yourself. It helps you to discern,
distill, filter and determine between relevant and irrelevant knowledge which you may have
acquired by yourself or your environment
![Page 8: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
4. BeliefsThis is different from your
experience and your knowledge.
It is what you accept or believe as truth.
It’s not all you learn that you believe
For example: You may have learnt about the theory of
evolution but do not believe it.
![Page 9: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
5. ValuesWhat you treasure!
Note the progression From the environment which you have no control over, you learn whatever it teaches
you. To the knowledge you
acquire and your experience which determines your beliefs which affect what you value.
![Page 10: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
6. ChoicesWhat you appreciate is
based on what you value. This is influenced by what
you believe. Directed by what you have
experienced. Developed as a result of
what you know. Taught to you by your
environment.
![Page 11: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
7. ActionsWhat you do.
This the sum total or product of our;
Choices, Values, Belief,
Experience, Knowledge and the
Environment
![Page 12: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
What to do to change what people do?
I must help them to make better choices, and to make better choices:
I must help them to develop good values, and to have good values:
I must touch their belief system, and to touch their belief system:
I must touch their experiences and to touch their experiences:
I must touch their knowledge base and to touch their knowledge base I must deal with the environment.
![Page 13: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
What to do to change what people do?
If I can’t deal with all these things, I cannot change what
people do! If your experiences,
knowledge, values, choices do not change you will
remain the same because actions do not produce
themselves but are a product of you believes knowledge
etc.
![Page 14: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
What to do to change what people do?
It is so important when we deal with human beings we
change what causes them to act the way they do and go back to their belief system. We must go back to our
belief systems which is the 4th in our list of factors and
stands as the pivot of everything you do. It is at the
centre.
![Page 15: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
What to do to change what people do?
What people believe is so important and so strong that it does not matter whether
you have a PhD degree etc if he believes his mother or
wife is a witch it will affect his actions.
We must change his belief and to change it its not
education that will do that.
![Page 16: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
What you believe determines your next move• Mother Teresa was asked to
march against the war and she said
• “NO, I will not march in a protest against war, but
when you organize a march for peace, please let me
know, I’ll be the first to sign up.”
• It’s an interesting idea to stand for something and
not against anything."
![Page 17: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
El Elyon - God Most High
El Elyon
God Most High
Jesus Christ
El Elohe Israel Meaning: mighty one; God of Israel the name which Jacob gave to the alter which he erected on the piece of land
where he pitched his tent before Shechem, and which he afterwards purchased from the sons of Hamor (Gen. 33:20)
![Page 18: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Nigeria: We are better than this!
![Page 19: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
The Arab Spring• The series of protests and
demonstrations across the Middle East and North Africa has become known as the "Arab Spring",and sometimes as the "Arab
Spring and Winter", "Arab Awakening" or "Arab
Uprisings" even though not all the participants in
the protests are Arab.
![Page 20: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
The Arab Spring• It was sparked by
the first protests that occurred in Tunisia on 18 December 2010 following
Mohamed Bouazizi's self-immolation in protest of police corruption and ill
treatment.
![Page 21: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
The Arab Spring• With the success of
the protests in Tunisia, a wave of unrest sparked by
the Tunisian "Burning Man" struck
Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, and Yemen,
then spread to other countries.
![Page 22: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
The Arab Spring• The largest, most
organised demonstrations have often occurred on a
"day of rage", usually Friday after noon
prayers.
• The protests have also triggered similar unrest
outside the region.
![Page 23: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Immolation• Immolation, from Latin
immolare, "to sacrifice", originally "to sprinkle
with sacrificial meal" (see mola salsa), in modern English since
the 16th century may refer to:
• Fire sacrifice, Holocaust (sacrifice), Cremation,
![Page 24: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Self Immolation • Self-immolation suicide by
immolation, notably as an extreme form of protest
• Sati (practice) a Hindu funeral custom involving
self-immolation
• Jauhar voluntary death (on a funeral pyre) of the non-fighters of defeated Rajput
communities to avoid capture
![Page 25: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
2 Kings 3:26-27• 26 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was
against him, he took with him 700 swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not.
• 27 Then he [Moab’s king] took his eldest son, who was to reign in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall [in full view of the horrified enemy kings]. And there was great indignation, wrath, and bitterness against Israel; and they [his allies Judah and Edom] withdrew from [Joram] and returned to
their own land.
![Page 26: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Arab Spring vs. Nigerian Spring• Be careful The
Domino effect is coming to us in
Nigeria If the church does not give
acceptable to Lord.
• The Elect must make the sacrifice to stop
corruption
![Page 27: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Arab Spring vs. Nigerian Spring • It's the spirit behind
the sacrifice that would get the glory &
honor • he offered himself a dead
sacrifice and triggered a revolution Immolation a burn
offering A human spirit douches himself as a sacrifice especially when the righteous does nothing
and copy cat sacrifices were triggered - Ladi Thompson
![Page 28: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
We Must Be Focused on Peace
• Despite what is happening in the
nation, we need to be focused on peace.
• Don't just pray and fast for a problem,
Pray, Fast and Think of ways to solve the
problem.
![Page 29: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)

The Ultimate Sacrifice• “Historically, the word
immolate had been used by Fathers and
theologians of the Church to refer to the
eucharist as a commemoration of the once-for-all sacrifice
of Christ.”
• Reformation Theology

This is a fight or the Soul of this Nation
![Page 38: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/38.jpg)
This fight is not about Petrol!!!!• In the same way we
must enlarge our thinking to prepare for this fight, what do we
want, to fight corruption only or fight to establish integrity, transparency and good government
for its people
• The obvious question is what then must we do?
![Page 39: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/39.jpg)

Light at the End of the Tunnel • When you are in
darkness or in a dark cave or tunnel and can't see your way out, all you are looking for is light a glimmer of hope no matter how small.
![Page 41: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/41.jpg)
Light at the End of the Tunnel • Hope is an anchor
for our souls.
• ....this Nation needs hope, a light
something we all can hold on to and
agree on.
![Page 42: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/42.jpg)
Genesis 1:1-41 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the
face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the
darkness.
![Page 43: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/43.jpg)
This Nation needs Hope• Genesis God said 1st
let their be light. The light serves as our
hope for a better future.
• Hope is the only reason we don't give up or go
insane.
• Our hope in God anchors us
![Page 44: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/44.jpg)

Hebrews 6:18-1918 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong
consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure
and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
![Page 47: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/47.jpg)
Faith, Hope & Love• 1 Corinthians
13:13
• But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

Faith, Hope & LoveGalatians 5:6
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing,
nor uncircumcision; but faith which
worketh by love.

Faith, Hope & Love
Hebrews 11:1.
Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Lord Make Us Instruments of Your Peace
Where there is hatred, we will show his love
Where there is injury, we will never judge Where there is striving, we will speak his
peace To the millions crying for release,
We will be his instruments of peace

Lord Make Us Instruments of Your Peace
Where there is blindness, we will pray for sight
where there is darkness, we will shine his light Where there is sadness, we will bear their
grief To the millions crying for relief,
We will be your instruments of peace.
![Page 55: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/55.jpg)
Right Way
• I have always believed because of my faith in
God that there will always be a right way to respond to anything that
happens to us in life, following our rights and a legal way to respond to things done against
us that threatens us and our loved ones
![Page 56: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/56.jpg)
Wrong Way• On the other hand
there is a wrong way to respond to the same scenarios where we do more harm than
good and take the law into our hands and feel justified to responses because of what has
been done to us.
![Page 57: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/57.jpg)
God's Way• However I have always
known and believed that there is a third way, which is
God's way in which He reveals that deals with the injustice as it should be
dealt with not a penny more or a penny less and
provides justice without compromise and in ones
best interest not just for now but for a profitable and
productive future
![Page 58: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/58.jpg)
"The 3rd Alternative:• Albert Einstein reportedly
said, “The significant problems we
have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking
with which we created them.”
• To solve our most difficult problems, we must
radically change our thinking—and that’s what
this book is about..."
![Page 59: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/59.jpg)
"The 3rd Alternative:• Almost everyone
identifies with one alternative or the
other.
• It’s why we have racism and prejudice
and war
• The real problem is in our mental paradigms.
![Page 60: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/60.jpg)
But then we get to the exciting part
• . That happens when I look at you and say,
“Maybe we can come up with a better
solution than either one of us has in mind.
• Would you be willing to look for a 3rd
Alternative we haven’t even thought of yet?”

But then we get to the exciting part
• Hardly anyone ever asks that question, yet it is the key not just to resolving conflicts but
also to transforming the future.
• We get to the 3rd Alternative through a
process called synergy.

This Year 2012• These lines are from "The Gate of the Year," a
poem written in 1908 by Minnie Louise Haskins:
• I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year "Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown."
• And he replied, "Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God That shall be to you better than light and safer than a
known way!"

Many Are Called• Matthew 22:14
• 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
• Many are called but few have
made the choice
• The onus is in us not God
![Page 70: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/70.jpg)
Trust & ObeyWhen we walk with the Lord in the
light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
![Page 71: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/71.jpg)
Trust & Obey
Refrain:Trust and obey, for there’s
no other way To be happy in Jesus, but
to trust and obey.
![Page 72: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/72.jpg)
Trust & ObeyNot a shadow can rise, not a cloud in
the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a
tear, Can abide while we trust and obey.
![Page 73: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/73.jpg)
Trust & ObeyNot a burden we bear, not a sorrow
we share, But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
![Page 74: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/74.jpg)
Trust & ObeyBut we never can prove the delights
of His love Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
![Page 75: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/75.jpg)
Esther 4:13-1413 Then Mordecai bade them return answer
unto Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the
Jews. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then will relief and
deliverance arise to the Jews from another place, but thou and thy father's house will
perish: and who knoweth whether thou art not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Trust & ObeyThen in fellowship sweet we will sit at
His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Barack Obama• We projected a vision of

Act Different then Think Different
We found that innovators “Think Different,” to use a well-known Apple slogan.
Their minds excel at linking together ideas that aren't
obviously related to produce original ideas.
But to think different, innovators had to “act
different.”

perfect will of God.

Act different then think different
• You must do things for her,
listen to her, be there for her.
• It’s not about what happens in return but what
you do to love her

Words from Abraham Lincoln
Words from Abraham Lincoln almost 150 years ago but as
accurate today as they were then.
During this political season, let us be
reminded of these wise words
![Page 90: Nigeria what do you believe](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/555d3a65d8b42a766e8b4fb3/html5/thumbnails/90.jpg)
Words from Abraham Lincoln
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by
discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help
men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. --Abraham Lincoln
