    • An Evening Registration for Certified courses will take place from 6.00 - 7.00pm on Tuesday 15th September 2020 (Come along and meet the tutors of our Certified courses)

    ReFUND PolICYa full refund will be given to all applicants for courses, which do not proceed. Learners who attend one night of a course are not entitled to a refund. We regret we cannot entertain any other requests for refunds.

    GeNeRal INFoRmaTIoN / TeRms & CoNDITIoNs• all fees must be paid for before classes commence. • Learners cannot attend a class without an official

    receipt. • Fees do not cover the cost of materials, learners will be

    expected to bear the cost of materials where costs arise.• Fees are strictly non-refundable.• Receipts must be presented to the class teacher on the

    first night of tuition so that enrolment details may be entered on the class register.

    • Where course fees are being funded by an employer / government or community agency the learner should complete the application form and return completed and stamped with the company stamp.

    • Once you have enrolled, your course commencement date will be printed on your receipt.

    • No further contact will be made from the college unless the class is deferred.

    • Your classroom will be posted up in the Main Foyer of the college.

    • Learners are required to have 80% attendance to be entered for Certification.

It is the learner’s responsibility to ensure that all information is correct as any omission will mean a delay in the processing of the application and it is their responsibility to ensure that they have up to date garda Vetting.

    CoURse oVeRVIewQuality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is an independent State agency responsible for promoting quality and accountability in education and training services in Ireland. A QQI award is a certificate that learners will receive on successful completion of a programme.

    a major award made up of 8 modules leads to a nationally recognized qualification. Each module carries a credit value of 15, giving a total of 120 credits for the full Major award.

    examINaTIoNsexaminations may be held during January, the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May with some examinations being held during the day. Photo Identification (drivers licence, passport or any other form of photo ID) will be required for each examination.It is the responsibility of the learner to register for all relevant examinations, familiarise themselves with rules and regulations and pay the appropriate examination fee. examination entry fees are non-refundable. Learners cannot be entered for examinations nor will they receive their results or certificates unless fees are paid in full to the college. examination Rules and Regulations are available for download from the College Sharepoint site under assessment Handbook for Learners.

    examination dates are at the discretion of the examination Board and may be subject to change.

    sPeCIal aCCommoDaTIoNLearners with special requirements must fill in QA 6.6b Evidence of Disability/Specific Need form which can be downloaded from assessment Handbook for Learners on the Sharepoint site. all forms to be returned with documented evidence before 1st December. DaTes oF examINaTIoNs:These will be placed on the notice board located on the ground floor outside the night office. Examination Dates will also be posted on the web – https://evening.corkcollegeofcommerce.ie

    QQI ResUlTs/ aPPeals Results for all QQI assessment will be posted to learners in June of each year. Learners completing modules in the first term in December will receive their results the following June. QQI certificates are posted to learners in September of each year unless the learner is graduating with a full award. Learners wishing to appeal their grades must do so within 14 days of receiving results (from date of postmark). Details of how to appeal will be issued with results. If, in the unlikely event, a learner has not received any results by the end of July please contact the college. assessment entry with QQI requires learners to supply the Night Department with a correct PPSN, first name, surname and DOB. Failure to supply the correct details will result in the delay of processing the entry.

    examINaTIoN ResUlTsLearners who complete a module in December will receive their results in June. The college is not authorised to release examination results until the External Authenticator ratifies such results. examination Results are then approved by the examination Board and can only then be given to learners in June.

    assIGNmeNT/PRoJeCT sUBmIssIoNs• Learners are advised to keep a Hard Copy of all work

    submitted and to save their work on a USB Pen. • Coursework will not be returned to learners once

    submitted for assessment. • all hard copy materials, will be disposed of at the end of

    each academic year

    Dates for submission of coursework will be provided by the tutor at the beginning of the course and these dates must be strictly adhered to. Coursework cannot be accepted after the specified dates. Learners must have 80% attendance in college to be entered for certification.

    leaVING CeRTIFICaTe leaRNeRs e10 FoRmLearners wishing to sit Leaving Certificate Examinations in June 2021 must register directly with the Department of Education and Science for their Leaving Certificate examination.

    Learners with special requirements must fill in a reasonable accommodation form which can be downloaded from www.examinations.ie. It is the learner’s responsibility to register directly with the Department.

    This is a foundation counselling course designed so that learners develop an insight and appreciation of the process, theories and skills essential to counsellors. It is aimed at those who may be working in areas which require such skills, those who are interested in personal development work and considering undertaking a formal professional qualification.

    Learners will be introduced to basic counselling skills, fundamental theories underpinning both counselling and psychotherapeutic practice. Theory is interwoven with practical applications intended to increase awareness of interpersonal communication, self-awareness and personal development.     This course aims to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge to competently devise, produce, manage and evaluate an event. It covers the essential components of an event’s plan to include the client’s objectives, time management, the profile of event audiences, venue search, budget, marketing, risk planning, event insurance, and contracts.

    This course is delivered through a flexible learning approach which is a combination of classroom based and online learning.

    Childhood generally refers to the care and the education of children aged 0-6 years.

    Course DurationStage 2–The course takes place over 2 years, for learners who gain advanced entry to stage 2. Learners will be expected to attend Cork College of Commerce 2 evenings a week (6.00pm-9.30pm) and 1 Saturday in three (full day). as the programme progresses attendance at college will be reduced. The course is delivered using a blended learning approach. Due to the blended learning delivery within this programme learners should have access to PC / Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection from home, so as to be able to fully participate in the programme. In stage 2, semester 2 of the programme, learners will be required to undertake a full time 5-day work placement in a Special Needs setting. The placement site for this mandatory practice is organized by DKIT.

    Entry requirements:For Advanced Entry to Stage 2, candidates must have:FeTaC Level 5 and Level 6 or QQI/FeTaC level 6 only (if awarded since 2015) in early childhood studies or equivalent and have two years’ work experience in a TUSLa registered early child care service (minimum of 15 hours per week).

    Candidates maybe required to attend for interview. Length of work experience and position in employment maybe used as ranking criteria in a shortlisting process.

    For Advanced Entry to Stage 3, candidates must have:QQI Higher Level 6 award in early Childhood Studies or equivalent and have three years work experience in a TUSLa registered early child care service (minimum of 15 hours per week). Classes will be held in Cork College of Commerce

    Learners must complete 150 hours of work placement in a Registered Safety Setting (HIQA) to attain the Work Experience module. Learners must pass both sections of the Work Experience module In order to gain the final award including work experience placement. Placement contact is required to complete course work in most modules.Learners will need to undertake patient and manual handling training. This is not offered as part of the course, however, learners can avail of training from external trainers.

    This programme is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to provide care for the older person in a variety of settings.

    Programme Description:• The ageing process• Working with the older person• Caring for the older person with specific needs and care settings

    Learners need to be on placement in a registered setting as contact with older persons in such setting is a necessary part of the training course for practical skills demonstrations which are 60% of the assessment for certification.

    CaRe sKIlls QQI leVel 5Tue 6.30-9.30pm • Duration: 12 weeksThis programme is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to care for clients in a safe and hygienic environment. Contact with a HIQA registered setting is required in order to complete Skills Demonstration for this module.

    Learning Outcomes:• Identify the hygiene needs of clients• Discuss the prevention of pressure sores• Adapt levels of assistance to the needs of particular clients• Examine the physical, emotional, social, psychological needs of clients
