    4 MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The manufacturer shall state the method of processing or rening of the steelwhich they intend to use to obtain the rate of inclusions specied under struc-tural and inclusion properties.

The sheet steel must be cold-rolled and annealed,

The tube steel must be cold-rolled or drawn and annealed.

The nishing of the sheets and tubes must be of type 2B according to EN10088-2.

    5 QUALITY CONTROL

    5.1 GENERAL

Quality control shall be carried out in accordance with a quality plan estab-lished between the manufacturer and NIKHEF. NIKHEF (or its representative)

reserves the right to intervene during the different stages of fabrication.

    5.2 HOMOGENEITY

The homogeneity of the steel shall be ultrasonically inspected solely to detectcontinuity faults after the last hot working operation. The details of the ultra-sonic inspection will be agreed upon between the manufacturer and NIKHEFas a function of the product.

    5.4 MARKING

    a) Unless agreed otherwise, the following marks are applied to each part:

the designation of the steel and the reference of the standard or of the specication,

the identication marks of the part or of the batch and of the heat, the Producers name or symbol, where applicable, the stamp of the acceptance agent or of the con-

    troller of the producing plant.

For small-size parts, the above identication marks may be replaced by asingle mark codied by the Producer and transferred on the acceptancedocuments. These markings are to be made on one side only.

    b) The markings shall be applied using a process which eliminates any riskof notching or chemical attack.

    5.5 DOCUMENTS

The supplier shall attach the analysis certicates issued following the quali-cation controls given in Chapter 5.3 above to each consignment. All thesecerticates shall be drawn up in accordance with the prevailing standards.

    6 PACKING

The packaging of the sheets and tubes shall be strong enough to preserve thesurface condition and evenness during transport.
