The original Gameboy with its obsolete functions and features including its 8-bit Z80 CMOS (4.19MHz) processor, 8KB of RAM memory and its 4 color screen (Grayscale) became an instant worldwide hit for children and teenagers around the world.

After being released in Japan in 1989, the Gameboy became popular, very fast. Over 32 million Gameboys were sold within the first three years of its release, this being only one year since it had reached the United States.

The Game Boy was the first of the long line of hand-held video gaming systems by Nintendo which have been highly profitable.

The Game Boy’s original features were state of the art at the time of its release, however, comparing it to modern systems, every feature of it is outdated.

The Game Boy works in a very simple way. The gamer places a game into the device’s game slot and launches it by switching the power button to, “on.”
