NME contents analysis.

The title- The title of this magazine is on the contents page to remind the audience the name of the magazine. Also, it says ‘This week’, to show you what is in the issue that you have.

The magazine has a ‘Band Index’ which lings into the musical genre of the magazine. Also, the list shows there are lots of bands inside, and it stands out as it is in red which watches the colours of ‘NME’, showing it links in with the magazine.

The main image- The central image is of 2 men (kasabian). The image doesn’t look prepared for, and wasn’t a photo shoot. This suggests that there will be behind the scene/backstage gossip inside that you wouldn’t normally find out if you didn’t read the magazine.

Main coverlines- Main coverlines are used to categories the different articles into different sections so its easier to find them and read them.

Coloured text is used for the page numbers, bold text is used for the titles of the articles inside and smaller text describes the contents of each article featured. This is good because you can identify what you want to read much more easily.

Graphic features are used which appeal to the target audience, and give the magazine a more modern and youthful feel. Older people would not expect to find arrows in a magazine that they would buy.

Advertising- Advertising is used which appeals to the readers as they want to purchase the magazine again after reading it once. Also, the colours used here don’t go with the rest of the colour scheme, making it stand out. The colours used suggest danger (yellow and black) but this contradicts the text as it is a good thing to buy a subscription to the magazine as you would save quite a bit of money.
