What are the different broadband options available to me as an SME in the graphics design sector, operating as a business from a home office in my locality: Terenure

3. Definition of terms:
Mb: Network transfer rates and download speeds are often referred to in megabits
KB: A kilobyte is 1,024 bytes of digital information
GB: A unit of computer storage equalling approximately 1 billion bytes
Mbps: Megabits per second
IP Address: Internet Protocol Address. A unique number identifying all devices connected to the Internet. This number is usually shown in groups of numbers from 0 to 255, separated by periods, for example 207.46.230.218
Modem: is the piece of equipment that links your computer to the Internet via telephone lines. This is an acronym derived from the words modulator and demodulator by taking the mo and dem from the words. A modem is a piece of hardware that is used to connect computers to the Internet.
4. Definition of terms:
Contention Ratio: is the ratio of the potential maximum demand to the actual bandwidth. The higher the contention ratio, the greater the number of users that may be trying to use the actual bandwidth at any one time and, therefore, the lower the effective bandwidth offered, especially at peak times
PSTN: The public switched telephone network is the network of the world's publiccircuit switched telephone networks. Originally a network of fixed-line analogue telephone systems, the PSTN is now almost entirely digital in its core
ISDN: integrated services digital network regular twisted-pair copper telephone lines that can carry two 64 kbps channels and one 16 kbps signalling channel
